Post name: This new site is killing the server and is discouraging not just new players from playing but even players in HCMD

What are you suggesting? - Changing  the site to a more complete map that everybody loves.

How would this change better the server? - Increase pop and endorse what the server is mostly used for which is PvP

Are there any disadvantages of making this change to the server? If so, explain. - No

Who would this change mostly benefit? - The entire community

I sat on the server in dblock for an hour and heard countless players complaining  and slandering the new map. "This is boring or this new map is trash" are frequent phrases. Gaminglights playerpop is probably the lowest consistency its been in a while maybe ever. This map is even more discouraging and would ultimately kill the server in probably a couple months.

new players wont give it time, this may be the case for the 20 people who aren't AFK during high pop hours who actually do play, but I think the server would grow way more with a more complete map on release at the very least.

I havent play in a while but this new map from what i have seen is very not good to put it blunt, it would be a good thing to put back a old map for now and go back and see what needs to be fixed and then put the map out again once all the changes peopel want are made

This is by far one of the better maps that we have had. 200 fps on surface? A balanced D block? Actual things to increase RP? Once the map works out its kinks it will be great.

The purpose of this map is to increase RP not PVP.

I dont usually support "Revert back to this!" suggestions, but this map is just not what GL is, it doesn't follow the formula of literally every map before it which makes it just not work. We are a semi serious community playing on what feels like a serious SCP RP map and it just feels wrong.

 

To add onto this, this isn't just old players being angry at change. Obviously every map change people will be angry. But I am seeing BRAND NEW players join the server and saying "what the fuck is going on" and instantly quitting, not even lasting 5 minutes in this d block. If brand new players are being drove away by it, maybe this map is just uh not good.

 

EDIT: Best solution would just be to go back to site-13, let them develop the map, then actually release it when its better.

yea theres no increased RP on this  map at all lol. Dblock is terrible and unbalanced, a constant war between dclass and security on airlock, people would rather kill then get tested on. if you want to increase RP maybe get rid of the 50 dclass jobs that can give guns/spawn with them, get rid of the $400 OP custom classes, and actually promote testing and breaching. I saw more O5 on yesterday than SCPS

you are not in Nu7, which is the main group for dealing with SCPs now. Nor have i seen you in any of the branches that have gotten their RP increased with the map, you haven't seen the new RP.

I have liked all the new maps so far, but this is just...this is just yoinking another servers map and slappin some shit on it. Lemme break it down for yall.

 

1: Conveyance. The maps we do have are in random ass spots, and usually not actually angled in the direction the map shows, so you have to look around the area to orient yourself, as well as signs being very few and far between to tell you what is where and what is what. Entry level EZ? Is that the one with or without the gates? Sure, we can jam random fucking signs on everything, but like....why should everything be vague? 

2: Layout. Why does every zone have 2 floors? What connects to what is super fucking vague. Ez and LCZ should both be one floor. HCZ being multi floored makes sense, its got the bulk of the fuckshit in it. But why would LCZ need to be two stories? same with LCZ? There is too many elevators which makes mass movement a pain in the nuts, as well as the general lack of overall cohesion in terms of navigation. Sure you could eventually learn it through playing a bunch, but like, with the older maps, you would know go this way to do this thing, follow this path to go this way, even guessing would get you a distance. Now? I get lost in single areas for ages, without any real opportunity to navigate further without just getting lost. Even people who RECOGNIZE the map from its source, or shit like that, get lost. Its frustrating as hell. 

3: Redundancy. There is dead ends, doors leading nowhere, pointless rooms and props. There is so so SO much unused shit, and while yeah, I figure it will be used later in the case of at least like...1/3 of it, there is a bunch of other rooms and shit that just has no purpose for existing, the umpteenth empty room with nothing in it, and all the same old same old shitty scp cells that all look identical. There is a lot of nothing, and too much that just has no purpose. For example: why does CI base have a back entrance? Isnt it like, right into their spawn, making it USELESS for an MTF raid? They would never leave out of it for a raid or any reasonable reason, because honestly, the time it takes to get anywhere would make it worthless.

4: Consistency. Next to NOTHING is consistent. Some rooms look like they had all of 15 seconds spent on them, others look like they added a good month onto the development time. Locations seem random, what is and isnt relevant is wildly variable, and overall what can and cant be done is just...anyones best guess. Why is there a randomly super detailed garage with movable objects and shit like a car lift, but some flagship scps get a shitty retextured box? Why do the meeting rooms feel like concert halls, but CI now has to cram into an area that makes a small town community college dorm room look spacious? Why are there some windows that are one sided, then others that arent? Some doors that open right there, others from a console a mile away, even if the stakes or location for their opening and closing is the same?  

I like the overall vibe of this map, I like the way it looks, feels, but there is so much just awful about it that I think they need to take a step back and either A: fix these glaring issues while running an old map in the meantime, or B: try a new map altogether. Its not like this one is some built from the ground up masterpiece, its like a fuckered scrambled version of civil.

and we dont even need to talk about d block.

Every time we get a new map, people run and cry “GUYS THIS MAP IS ASS!!! OLD SITE OLD SITE!!!” and frankly it’s getting annoying. Spend more than 2 days on a map before you run around and complain.

”Guys, New D-Block is so unbalanced!”, make a suggestion, they can edit the map. Site-13 D-Block was literally KILLING SECURITY as a branch because rioting was constant, Researchers could never get D-Class because they’d get sniped by a cc in the back corner. We are a roleplay server, not a TDM server, and if you think otherwise then I believe Gaminglight isn’t the place for you.

If you dont want to make a suggestion, deal with it or leave the server.

I’m not saying the map is perfect, there’s certainly flaws, but make suggestions to fix them or deal with it.

This suggestion is entirely baseless. The map hasn't been out nearly long enough to make these claims, and we've topped out our player count daily with this map. I, for one, got a newfound invigoration to play with the introduction of this new map. This is a SCP RP. It's a roleplay server. This map is doing exactly what we need by suppressing combat and encouraging roleplay.

makes sense, why else would there be hundreds of dollars of CCs you could buy to dominate everyone?

In reality the playerbase is freaking hurting this server so bad, it's full of TDM players that complain about every freaking RP aspect, this community is going down cause of the playerbase mindset, it's horrible.

when you build a community off of people who get their roleplay from PvP, you cant just change the map expecting it to shift from a PvP sided experience to a roleplay sided experience. If you want to stop the pvp you shouldnt make it so easy for d class to obtain guns. instead make them want to test with researchers. Researchers dont even get on. You cant shift the server which is PvP sided into a rp map, thats just what Omnigames SCPRP did and they dont even exist anymore. If its a playerbase problem then you obviously know how to fix it if the majority of the playerbase doesnt want to seriously RP. This server was built off pvp proven by the OP customclasses allowed back when the server was first made.

Goofy ahh suggestion, it really doesn't make any sense what your point is on wanting to change the map other than you hearing occasional people in d-block saying 'this is boring, the map just came out 2 days ago and most of you guys have given it no time to have rules changed. Just use your brain for 5 seconds before making a random suggestion with nothing backing it. It seems only d-class and security are upset about this update and no one else, security is super powerful now so I don't see their reason and as for D-class their problem resides in forgetting that they're prisoners and shouldn't be able to carry around MG42's in d-block. Let some rules and MOTD changes come and it should balance things out as most of the problems only reside with MOTD and SOP rule changes, be patient.

Im gonna close this for now as it is too soon to get a read on what players want and what is just anti-change. I will add that it is already being talked about having more structure to our map changes and rotating the maps on a more regular basis to be a win win for everyone. So in the future if you say "oh I don't care for this map very much" well just wait 2-3 weeks and we will be playing on another map! Win win.
