  1. -Support Entered an area you're not allowed to enter in order to do something you're not allowed to do in order to help an SNR handle a command member's "negligence" of getting brought to a sit by staff at a bad time. Sorry, nothing personal but you really shouldn't be going into gov bases besides DOC as crim unless for some reason you're either told to enter by staff or brought there by government, which would both generally be rare.
  2. All I can think of, then, is that my dynamic IP landed on a banned user's previous IP, which seems somewhat unlikely but is my only real theory. I have looked up and found that, apparently, there are known issues where people are mysteriously banned from Discord servers without any interaction from moderators, and apparently those can sometimes be fixed with some bots by banning and unbanning a user (possibly removes the banned IP?). Other than that, I'm not really sure how to proceed, or how I'd be banned in the first place. (I'm not, for what it's worth, banned from any other GL discord - I'm still in the SCPRP one, the PoliceRP department/tac department ones and the Gaminglight Official Discord)
  3. The main one, named "Gaminglight PoliceRP" I believe.
  4. Your name: BruceyBoyo Your Discord ID name (EX: Igneous#3706): BruceyBoyo#6314 Your Discord ID code (EX: 204661777512923136): 146319392777437187 Which discord server were you banned on? PoliceRP Discord What was the reason for your ban (if you know it)? Unknown, was asleep Why do you deserve to be unbanned? I can't really dispute the reason for the ban since I wasn't there for it and Discord doesn't inform people of the reason, other than by saying I'm known for being paranoid enough about avoiding minor and trivial rulebreaks to make it unlikely I would break a rule and that I've not been saying anything offensive nor been requested to stop (I don't speak much in the PoliceRP discord anyway). I apologize for whatever I did as I assume that there was some kind of reason, and I won't do anything staff object to me doing either way, but I can't address the ban itself since the reason is unknown.
  5. +Support -Active, mature, knows what he's doing and does it correctly -Trains cadets a lot (like, a lot) -Has a positive attitude towards others of all ranks -Always willing to seek advice and accept feedback -Overall the type of person we want in LC
  6. +Support 10 warnings is a 1 day ban per staff handbook, presumably weekbanned by a typo when going through several warning threshold ban requests at once (as another 10 warn ban and a 30 warn ban were also being given out at the same time). Should be shortened to the length of a 10 warning ban because, well, it's a 10 warning ban.
  7. +Support Last time I got reset with it it did 30 damage point-blank. Considering it's a shotgun and most people don't stand still in combat, generally even unarmored criminal jobs take more than a full 7-round mag in practice to kill. It's not only the worst shotgun, but also worse at being a shotgun than every other gun that isn't a shotgun.
  8. Rank You are Applying For: Major In-Game Name: BruceyBoyo SteamID: STEAM_0:1:6828556 Current Rank: Captain How long have you been in your current rank?: 4 weeks (and a day) What timezone are you in?: GMT How many Warns do you have?: 0 Permission: Chief Max 1K11 Why should you be promoted (200 words Minimum): Throughout my time as Lieutenant and Captain I have consistently tried my best to make a positive impact on the department and server whenever I'm on. While I don't need to actively take control of every single situation, I keep an eye on everything related to PD and make sure everything that is primarily within our jurisdiction is handled - prisoners transported, cadets trained, tactical perimeters built and secured - by myself if necessary, as well as that the rules are being followed by our officers. While command's job sometimes requires stepping in, drawing a hard line and giving out stern warnings and even punishments, we should also be trying hard to avoid things escalating to that point. Our job is not just about punishing and restricting PD, but about supporting the department and its officers. I try to patrol with and offer useful advice to fellow officers on duty, gently correct them if they make a mistake and also take a mental note of who's driving properly, doing PT, active on radio and other signs of possible promotion candidates. This is especially becoming more important now that meetings late at night, when I tend to play, have become rarer, as many officers playing then aren't able to attend meetings nor see many command and thus have relatively few opportunities to be promoted. I also look for supervisors who train frequently as candidates for promotion, which I would be able to do myself for sergeants were I to be promoted to Major. I also am always willing to listen to other officers' concerns or issues, as while I may not be able to help them with every problem, everyone deserves a chance to be heard, even OFCs. When it comes to dealing with situations I apply both any relevant rules or SOPs and my own logic and reasoning to come to the best possible solution. My experience and leadership skills are further shown by my accomplishments in SCO19, where I am currently also a member of low command as well as FTO command and the head of the TRO (Marksman) specialty. In this capacity I have written the bulk of the TRO handbook, as well as being credited as a co-writer of the current SCO19 FTO handbook. My achievements in SCO19 and its FTO department show my leadership, my ability to teach and mentor people and my maturity and trustworthiness. Even though I'm in some other departments such as SCO19, I still make sure to put in plenty of time on PD and I'm always ready and willing to swap to PD if something needs taken care of in PD (and I'm not already doing something important like training). I welcome all feedback on my performance in all departments, both positive and negative, as I seek to be the best I can be. For all the reasons stated above I believe that I have shown the maturity, understanding and experience required for the position of Major. Whether you agree or not, I thank you for taking the time to read my application and for your feedback. You agree that disobeying any rules set by High Command will result in an immediate demotion (Yes/No): Yes
  9. Name: BruceyBoyo Rank: SAIC How Active are you on a 1-10 scale?: 6 Anything else we should know?: No(ot noot).
  10. Rank You are Applying For: Captain In-Game Name: BruceyBoyo SteamID: STEAM_0:1:6828556 Current Rank: Lieutenant How long have you been in your current rank?: 3 weeks 5 days What timezone are you in?: GMT How many Warns do you have?: 0 Why should you be promoted (150 words Minimum): Throughout my time as a Lieutenant I have learned and developed leadership skills, both through observing higher command and through actively overseeing and handling situations. I make an effort to be out and patrolling as much as possible, ideally with others, so that I can be available to help other officers, keep an eye out for issues and provide a positive role model. It also allows me to see how other officers are performing on duty and whether they deserve a promotion. I make an effort to come across as friendly and approachable enough that any lower-ranking officer can feel comfortable approaching me with a question or a problem. Although I'm willing to take action if necessary, when I see an issue with the behaviour of an officer I remain calm and respectful as I explain to them what the problem is and how to solve it, reserving punishments for only those who are unwilling to listen or serious misconduct. While I train cadets less often as LT due to being more valuable when I'm out and available to take reports, recommendations etc., I still do it when no supervisors are available and help supervisors train cadets if needed, and I still have my own set of training notes to make sure everything important is covered during training and new OFCs are as prepared as possible. I've made an attempt to resolve the issue of people who never got promoted because of being in the wrong timezone for command or meetings, although the recent shift towards more meetings in those timezones has reduced the number of field promotions overall compared to meeting promotions. Although I've been less active over the holiday season, I've still managed a fair amount of activity on PD during this time, which will only increase now that the holidays are ending. Despite being in several other departments I enjoy PD and, regardless of rank, will continue to do whatever I can to improve both the PD as a whole and my personal abilities. You agree that disobeying any rules set by High Command will result in an immediate demotion (Yes/No): Yes
  11. Name: BruceyBoyo Rank: Sergeant Sergeant First Class SteamID: STEAM_0:1:6828556 Current Sub-Branches your in: Riot Control, Sniper Any Notes, Questions, or Concerns?: None
  12. Rank You are Applying For: Lieutenant In-Game Name: BruceyBoyo SteamID: STEAM_0:1:6828556 Current Rank: Sergeant Major How long have you been in your current rank?: 3 Weeks What timezone are you in?: GMT How many Warns do you have?: 0 Why should you be promoted (150 words Minimum): Firstly, even as SM I try to use my limited authority responsibly for the good of the department. Although I make sure to address even things like incorrect bodygroups, invalid callsigns, not being in TS and other low-level issues I still make sure to treat all ranks with respect and patience - pulling the "I'm your superior" card is the last resort as I'd much rather simply educate people and help them improve. I acknowledge that I myself am not perfect or all-knowing - no rank is too high to ask questions and regardless of my rank I will always seek to improve myself and my knowledge and skills just as I hope to help others do the same, which includes listening to lower ranks if they have something valid to say. For similar reasons I also actively enjoy training cadets when I'm able and have written my own personal set of training notes to help as I teach more than the slides on the walls - I also cover extra tips and tricks mechanically (how to panic button, surrender, wanted commands etc), radio etiquette, traffic stop roleplay and various other things to give the new OFCs a head start in learning the ropes and possibly advancing in the PD. If given the rank of Lieutenant I would be able to be a more visible role model and be in a better position to help newer officers develop, even being able to promote them if they prove themselves worthy. While I acknowledge that I have only held the Sergeant Major rank for 3 weeks, I hope and believe that in this time and the rest of my time in the PD I have demonstrated maturity, professionalism and respect - despite taking a break for the odd bit of fun where appropriate. I've also had the chance to see how current command members handle situations and learn from their examples. I'm not in a particularly large number of departments, but I have reached supervisor ranks in the FBI and in SCO19 and being in these departments has helped me obtain a broader experience of departments the PD frequently works with. Despite being in other departments I try to spend a decent amount of time on PD most days despite some days off to avoid getting burned out, and am willing to swap to PD if I'm able and there are OFCs needing a ride-along or cadets needing trained. Overall, while I understand that I have relatively little time in rank and no previous command experience, my hope is that my actions so far speak louder than words and prove my suitability for the rank of Lieutenant. Whether I receive it or not I will respect the decision and continue to work hard to become the best officer I can be. You agree that disobeying any rules set by High Command will result in an immediate demotion (Yes/No): Yes

  14. Sorry if this is necro-y or anything but it feels like this is a worthwhile bump: Pretty sure all printers increase temperature by 30 per minute (1 per 2 seconds) and use 300 paper per minute (10 per 2 seconds) but I could be wrong about that - they all store 1500 paper though. Low tiers all cost $250 to refill the paper, high tiers all cost $1500. They all cost $250 to cool, which also shuts down printing for 10 seconds. (And yes, they run on 2-second ticks) As for what they produce: Bronze low tier: $450/min ($15/2s) Bronze high tier: $6,750/min($225/2s) Silver low tier: $1,350/min ($45/2s) Silver high tier: $9,000/min ($300/2s) Gold low tier: $2,250/min ($75/2s) Gold high tier: $13,500/min ($450/2s) Diamond low tier: $3,600/min ($120/2s) Diamond high tier: $18,000/min ($600/2s) Platinum low tier: $4,500/min ($150/2s) Platinum high tier: $22,500/min ($750/2s) Custom low tier (I think): $6,000/min ($200/2s) Custom low tier numbers are based on old images of printers similar to diamond printers, but there's 4 of them at a time (impossible) and they show more than platinum, so I assume them to be custom. Sourced mainly from FBI evidence of printer busts. Haven't seen any large customs pictured close enough to read the data. Hope this helps, isn't considered necroing and isn't too big a textwall!

  16. Side note: Not sure if we have a different system (I haven't been president) but I don't think I was even CPL when I turned out to be able to give licenses via people doing /requestlicense on me, so there's quite a few people you can get licenses from unless that's changed since not too long ago.
  17. - support I know several staff and people higher than me in PD already +supported this (I'm only a SGT), but do remember the server rules explicitly allow arresting you for being wanted without requiring any other RP beforehand - "You may go off the "wanted sign" above the criminal's head (You may AOS/KOS the person)" is the relevant part of the specific rule, so while PD command might see this as improper RP and below the standards of the second rank in PD, the rules allow him to arrest your wanted friends on sight without any other reason. I don't think a warn, especially, is an appropriate punishment for something the server rules explicitly state was allowed, and I've seen both PD high and low command saying you can go off wanted signs for people in cars too. Honestly, since he had a legitimate reason to arrest with or without asking for IDs, this is an issue of whether he was metagaming by saying "I ran your IDs" when he could've just pulled a gun instantly and made the arrests because "you're wanted". He roleplayed more than he was actually required to, and you're effectively asking for him to be striked or demoted for even trying. If we start handing out punishments for making an RP mistake in a situation where the person could've just skipped the RP entirely and been fine, it's going to discourage people from RPing situations out at all - especially when you're dealing with not a supervisor, not even a LCPL, but a SNR. My superiors may disagree, and I respect that, but I'm here to give my opinion, which is that we really don't need to crack down on SNRs for trying to RP out situations there's no guide or mandatory training for and making minor imperfections that don't affect the outcome. Even a PD strike seems a bit excessive to me.
  18. I've managed to fix it, although part of the solution made very little sense. First, I turned off mounting TF2 in my client, as having TF2 content mounted causes odd problems with some servers. Second, I updated... Firefox. Apparently hl2.exe runs better and uses less resources if Firefox is up to date, for reasons I cannot comprehend. This still requires two attempts to join, because Gmod only allocates memory to itself very slowly, so the first attempt always times out, but with TF2 unmounted and Firefox updated (???) the second attempt now works just fine. So... if anyone else has connection problems, that's a possible solution, strange as it is.
  19. So I've tried to play on the PoliceRP server, as it looks somewhat fun. i have downloaded all of the addons and been able to" join" but when I load in and see the world, although I can open menus and such I'm already an insane length of time into a timeout (somehow, longer that I have been connecting - my timeout has been somehow set to 2 hours clientside and I load in with an hour left, even though I haven't been connecting for an hour.) I can see no reason for this on my own end (my available bandwidth is vastly more than the maximum data rate the server allows) but I would assume that someone would have noticed if joining the server was impossible full stop, so does anyone know how to not get automatically disconnected upon joining? Enabling multicore rendering doesn't fix it, which I tried just in case it was somehow relevant. I do spawn in with some chat and a lot of console spam already present though - enough to see the printer system initialized, the errors from vast numbers of not-quite-coded-right addons, my "Welcome Back" message after a couple of other players joining, etc. There's no sign of an actual connecting-ending error, though - it seems the connection just mysteriously and silently ends without either side actually ending it. For what it's worth, the netgraph claims the server is only managing 2.5 ticks a second, but this would presumably affect everyone. Sorry if this doesn't belong in general but I couldn't find a better place.
