  1. -Support • Suggestion does not explain why we should add this rule in a coherent manner • Absolutely zero effort at all was put into creating this post and lacks necessary information • Never explains how this will actually stop minging, but rather just assumes this will work • I personally have seen servers lose massive amounts of players because of rules that restrict certain freedoms and abilities like this • This is a role-playing server that allows for creativity and free thinkers to run rabid testing ideas, any rule prohibiting one from doing that will most defenitly be met with harsh resentment Lastly, I hate to sound like a dick here but if you want your suggestions to be taken seriously, you should put a lot more effort into making them. As I said before this is a roleplay server, it mirrors what real life is like in a much more lighthearted and simple way. To put any limitations at all on raiding would be hampering the roleplay on the server and would limit the ability of every player on the server to think critically about their situation.
  2. I think we all remember our first username, most of them I can assume were not too good. I know for certain mine was god awful, it was ajawesome1 but luckily enough for me, I didn't join Gaminglight until 10 years later when I was able to come up with a reasonable enough title for myself. I believe that we should add a place for people to request name changes on the forums as well as announce in-game name changes so everyone is aware of it.
  3. In real life if someone is wanted for murder in your area their face would be all over the media and newspapers. I will say though that if no one sees the crime then it’s really not fair to get KOS’ed for it 5 minutes later just because you have the sign over your head. Personally I feel like we can solve this problem by removing automatic wanted signs and start making police manually want people to make it as realistic as possible.
  4. Understandable, does just that simply warrant a negative support though? I strongly think not, what they should do is just not comment.
  5. Let me make this easy for all of us, it is simply not fair to post these comments on someone’s staff application because of the fact this server is busy 24/7, meaning people play in every time zone. If you haven’t seen the player but he still has a substantial amount of hours on gametracker, don’t post. You should really only -support if it is observed that the player has a bad personality and temper, or is overall a dick. Otherwise why ruin the kid’s chances? That’s just childish...
  6. +Support All of these responses are invalid, if you do not know the person then you have no grounds to base a negative comment about them. Gametracker is what we should be countering these comments with, if you have the hours, then frankly it doesn’t matter if you have seen them or not.
  7. What you want to see? - I want to see a day and night cycle added to the server. Why should we add it? - This should be added to increase roleplay and change things up once in a while to keep everyone on their toes. What are the advantages of having this? - Advantages include: A better roleplay experience, a chance to create a sort of "nightlife" on the server and make people more inclined to do things such as go to club catalyst. As well as add the need to use lights on your vehicle and the possibility of Mayors demanding curfew. Who is it mainly for? - Everyone on the server. Links to any content - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=185609021 (It doesn't have to be this one, but this is one that I found that seemed very good) If you are afraid of this one being too laggy I am pretty sure there are versions that just switch the skybox color, removing the need for a slow cycle and adding just an immediate switch.
  8. It’s not fair that they’re so inactive and that when people want to do trials they are never on. Buying Judge isn’t like buying VIP, it’s buying a responsibility to be able to roleplay the class for the benefit of the server. The class is almost always vacant indicating that a change is mandatory.
  9. I really am trying hard not to be angry right now, but I spent a bunch of time making posts that already state both of these ideas but much more in-depth to how they would work. As well as a document showing specific steps to a court proceeding and a comprehensible list of the Bill of rights that I personally simplified to base rulings on, so it would be more professional and easier for the younger players on the server to understand. You, in a basic sense, stole both of my suggestions...that’s not right. As someone about to start his Business Law Major in college, no one else wants to see these ideas flourish and help out with making them come to life as much as I do. As you bring forum staff as well I thought you would have scanned over previous suggestions to make sure no one else already done it.
  10. I defenitly agree and this aligns perfectly with the two suggestions I already posted.
  11. That’s actually something else I want changed too. Players shouldn’t be forced to go to court just because a judge is on, because those who don’t want to go to court wouldn’t roleplay, they should rather be able to choose if they are wrongly being jailed or not. I think we can all say that it’s pretty often that police tend to be a bit aggressive with their punishments and tactics and I know that if we could make a fast and reliable system we could truly make a difference on the server that can self correct the way police and citizens roleplay. As well as the fact I don’t think these jobs should be jobs people just hang out on. If people did that it would be boring as hell waiting for cases. Instead we should just have enough people whitelisted for Judge, prosecutor and defendant that if someone wants to sue someone there would be enough people whitelisted to get on the job at the nick of a dime and complete the trial.
  12. What you want to see? - I want to see the prosecutor and defendant job be added to a “legal department” and have their own detailed application process. Why should we add it? - The application and department must be added to the server to allow for mature and level-headed thinking people to be able to properly roleplay in court without having to worry about minges and people not knowing the proper procedures. The legal team would be as, if not more important than the other highly strict and in-depth departments such as SWAT, BSI etc... because of the intelligence that concluding and fighting for cases requires, as well as the fact it is extremely important that we have active legal members because it is a major part of Police roleplay. What are the advantages of having this? - Advantages Include: More qualified and mature players for the job This would weed out all the minges that make court roleplay painfully unpleasant This would leave the job available for those who know what they are doing and truly want to roleplay in court without interruption Having a department with quote on quote ranks would allow for another group on the server to hand out promotions and watch their members carefully with them knowing that if they screw around they are at risk of a demotion and removal from the class Who is it mainly for? - Adding this would allow for an entirely new dynamic for roleplay on the server. People would be able to finally take other players and the government to court "for real" with a trained legal team without the hassle of fighting mingy defendants/prosecutors. All in all, this is for the well being of the entire server and to help our status in the Garry's mod community by having one of the only servers with a fully functioning and "semi-professional" court system that anyone could have access to using and being a part of. I have already created a simplified version of court guidelines that is usable in-game to get everyone familiar with the ideal protocol of what real court is in the General section. See here: If you choose to implement this idea I would be glad to help develop applications or help in any other way I can.
  13. Authorities are on their way, there’s no escaping what you’ve done you sick bastard.
  14. This is a great idea to add more sophisticated roleplay to the server. +support
  15. I have been hypothesizing numerous ideas in my head that would satisfy everyone in this suggestion. So far I think that it can be kept as a donator job with an application (To keep donations flowing into the server), but only as long as we seriously focus on adding a “legal department” to get the people who are craving legal roleplay hyped up and anxious to get started. Therefore leading to an influx of people willing to spend the money for Judge. I would still rather see Judge just be granted via application without a fee as I stated in my original post, but this would suffice if the money coming from Judge donations is really that significant to the livelihood of the server.
  16. What you want to see? - Adding an application for Judge and removing the need to pay for it. Why should we add it? - This should be added to better facilitate roleplay and allow access to the job for the mature players who do not have the funds to pay for it. What are the advantages of having this? - Advantages include: -More active judges -A way to tell if someone is mature with a well-written application, instead of trying your luck with a random donator. -A way to have multiple people with the judge job to take over if someone gets bored (Normally if someone ever gets on judge-which is extremely rare-they’re on for 30 minutes and just get off) Who is it mainly for? - This is mainly for the players who enjoy the legal aspect of the roleplay and for the benefit of the entire server. For those that are concerned that the ones that bought judge would need to be compensated, I’m sure there would be a way to give them store credits or in-game currency, if there is anyone that would even care, knowing that the number of people that ever roleplay as the job is close to zero.
  17. Is this post a joke? The AWP is one of the, if not the most powerful weapon in the server, it’s inane that it would have to take three shots to the head to kill someone. Honestly, this debuff is a spectacular opportunity for PD to get their shit together and start actually training breaching and negotiation tactics instead of just rushing with Novas and other high powered shotguns and relying on their insane amount of amour to keep them safe. This is a wonderful update that will do nothing but increase roleplay on the server and make PD start thinking about their actions.
  18. Steps to a criminal Court Case By: Agustus Jones 1. Choosing a Jury If using a jury, each juror should be questioned to be sure there is no bias towards the defendant or prosecutor 2. Opening Statements The prosecutor presents the facts of the case, from the government's perspective, and walks the jury through what the government will try to prove -- what the defendant did, how, and why. The defense gives the jury its own interpretation of the facts and sets the stage for rebutting key government evidence and presenting any legal defenses to the crime(s) charged. 3. Witness Testimony and Cross-Examination The witness is called to the stand and is "sworn in," taking an oath to tell the truth. The party who called the witness to the stand questions the witness through "direct" examination, eliciting information from the witness through question-and-answer, to strengthen the party's position in the case. After direct examination, the opposing party has an opportunity to question the witness through "cross-examination" -- attempting to poke holes in the witness's story, attack their credibility, or otherwise discredit the witness and his or her testimony. After cross-examination, the side that originally called the witness has a second opportunity to question him or her, through "re-direct examination," and attempt to remedy any damaging effects of cross-examination. 4. Closing Arguments Similar to the opening statement, the closing argument offers the government and defense a chance to "sum up" the case, recapping the evidence in a light favorable to their respective positions. This is the final chance for the parties to address the jury prior to deliberations, so in closing arguments the government seeks to show why the evidence requires the jury to find the defendant guilty. In turn, the defense tries to establish that the government has fallen short of its "burden of proof," so that the jury must find the defendant "not guilty." 5. Jury Instruction After both sides of the case have had a chance to present their evidence and make a closing argument, the next step toward a verdict is jury instruction -- a process in which the judge gives the jury the set of legal standards it will need to decide whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty. 6. Decision Once the jury reaches a verdict, the jury foreperson informs the judge, and the judge usually announces the verdict in open court. The same procedure can be used for civil cases as well.
  19. -Support Raids on such facilities are already hard enough to do successfully even when you have 10-20 people, due to the overwhelming size of the police force and the special gadgets they possess. It is only fair that the server allows the "power in numbers" technique for raids because it is a very intelligent strategy and one of the only ones that ever work. It is the job of the police on the server to figure out how to train to combat it without running straight to administrators.
  20. There’s only four amendments on this list that anyone will likely ever use, I’m not asking everyone to become lawyers XD. This is just here in case someone wants to try and defend themselves in a ‘legal’ way without a massive gunfight. Since this is a realistic American based roleplay server though, I will continue to use these if police try and hassle me around because I think it’s extremely fun and raises the intensity of my individual roleplay. Not tryna push anything on anyone just an information post that you can choose to use if you wish.
  21. The hostile nature of your comment is unwarranted, I have personally studied the American Goverment for the past two years of my life and your knowledge of the United States Amendments are lacking and is straying the conversation away from the original purpose of this post. I posted this so the young and older players on our server can amplify their roleplay experience by not only learning how to defend their rights in-game but also in real life if the time ever comes to it. As well as the fact it’s a wonderful way to deter police from abusing their powers and “Rockford Citizens” from being wrongfully deprived of their rights without staff intervention. Nothing in my post states or insinuates to not follow the MOTD as they are the laws for our community.
  22. Just to help you better understand, the bill of rights is a set of amendments that protect people from being treated unfairly by our government rather than a series of rules such as our MOTD.
  23. My apologies, I should have clarified what that specifically meant regarding the MOTD and certain firearms. To be clear, in-game this would mean that the mayor could not ban the use of all firearms but that does not by anyway mean that one is allowed to have illegal weapons.
