Eris
What are you suggesting? - To up the default, free limit of custom playermodels a few megabytes. How would this change better the server? - Consistency. Are there any disadvantages of making this change to the server? If so, explain. - Who would this change mostly benefit? - Donators Ever since January 2020, "New or updated addons on Steam Workshop will display their real, uncompressed size" new addons are to display their true full size, although anything uploaded prior will display the compressed size. That means you could submit the same model before January and it would be approved, but if it was uncompressed higher than that after January, then it would be denied. I do not think the limit has been raised to account for this and it should.
[GL] Fizz-y Soda
Got any sources? I'm pretty sure this will get instantly denied by Zeeptin if you don't have sources explaining this clearly. Phillers
-Support, would just increase the amount of large models on the server. Eris
Just now, Phillers said: -Support, would just increase the amount of large models on the server. It's quite literally just adjusting it to be the same limit it was, accounting for steam changes. Uhm? And also you consider single megabyte models large? Increases Lag, Load Time, and amount of space it would take up on someones PC. The reason it costs so much is because it increases load time so Zeeptin decided, you wanna Larger CC Model and Increase load time? Pay more of a cost. -Support. pixalgamer99
With the information provided +support as all it is doing is showing the uncompressed version and isn’t gonna change the loading times
Bread
Garry's mod compresses the shown filesize, but they base it off of what the workshop says. There should be more slack cut to models published after March 2020. The older ones show the already compressed size. My suggestion: Double the filesize limits for any models that were published after March 2020. 7 hours ago, [GL] Mike said: Increases Lag Do keep in mind that models dont increase lag unless they're actually spawned and being used, and even then it doesn't really. Owner Zeeptin Posted January 19, 2021 Owner Share Posted January 19, 2021 Actually the new compression methods are better suited for us anyway so we are going to keep them the way they are.
Owner Zeeptin Posted January 19, 2021 Owner Share Posted January 19, 2021 Denied. The SCP-RP SMT has decided against adding this suggestion for performance reasons, the benefit to the server, or another unstated reason.
