What's your current Rank & Branch: Chief Inspector in CI R&D, Researcher in Research.

What Type of Command Position are you applying for (Senior Command / Low Command): Low Command

Date of when you first joined your branch: I first joined R&D on 11/28/2021, I joined Research for the first time on 12/3/21 and rejoined on 1/19/2022

Why do you deserve the position? (50+ Words): Well while I don’t have as much time on the server when compared to other applicants. I believe I still deserve the position of low command for the following reasons. First off; I am one of the most active players on gaminglight with most of my time being dedicated to RP Branches such as R&D and Research giving me a lot of experience in RP branches within a short period; having very quickly rose to the rank of Chief Inspector due to being competent at my job. Secondly; due to my command experience in R&D, I already have extensive knowledge on Research command duties such as hosting mass tests and grading test logs which means less time needs to be spent catching me up on research command duties compared to others. I believe that these 2 reasons make me competent enough to deserve a spot within research low command but I will explain in further detail why we should accept you into the research low command section more as to why I should be given a spot within low command.

What is your main goal of being Research Low / Senior Command (100+ Words): I am going to be honest, I was gunning for Research command anyways before global research applications opened up so my goal has not changed at all. I want to help research be the best possible branch it can be. Research has always been one of my favorite branches on the server alongside CI R&D. Hell the only reason I left the first time was that I believed my current position within Research (Which at the time was Experienced Researcher and RFA) would hurt my chances of getting into EOI; which was something I wanted the most. However, I have recently rejoined research since I realized how much I enjoyed it (and also got into EOI which factored into rejoining research and therefore just spending both lives on Research + R&D). Now that I have returned; I want to help research as best as I can and give one of my favorite branches my all.

Do you think there are any issues with the branch and if so how would you fix it: I’d say apart from the current issue of a lack of command which is being resolved to the best of command’s ability currently. I’d say the second biggest issue I have encountered was a lack of sufficient breathing room for researchers to perform testing roleplay. The server has been very combat-oriented which makes sense considering the ratio of combatant mains to noncombatant mains. However, due to the server being combatant-oriented; it often leaves researchers and other noncombatant branches with no room to do their RP. Hell I’m 100% sure the reason RIS units were created was because it is extremely hard to get escorts from Gensec/MTF; especially when a test requires multiple escorts such as SCPs you need to fearRP or keter class tests. RIS Units, while very helpful, are a bandaid to the more broad and complex problem of giving researchers the breathing room they need to perform testing. While the matter of finding a fair way to give researchers that breathing room is complex and many sides due to many different branches having RP needs that we need to make sure are fulfilled as well. However, while I do not have a solution at the moment to this matter; I want to discuss with other branch commands from branches such as MTF + CI a potential middle ground that could better guarantee us the necessary breathing room we need while also not impeding on the RP of combatant branches such as MTF and CI. I’d also say another big issue is the current training guide (which RRA command is working hard to fix), the way it is currently done is significantly harder for certain trainee’s and is likely one of the servers most difficult training’s due to one fact; you don’t get the SOP unless you complete the training. I get why they do this; it is because they don’t want people looking at the SOP for the test. Due to this, we have to hand explain all of the rules for research which is why Research training often takes significantly longer when compared to other branches. Which often deters a good portion of potential trainees from my experience while also struggling to listen and process all the information solely given through verbal communication. Not everyone is an auditory learner which is why people often learn the knowledge they need to know better from just getting the SOP, asking questions they got; and then taking the test with the SOP on hand since not only do they learn the knowledge needed to pass the test; they also learn how to scan the SOP for the knowledge needed which most lower-ranking researchers need to do anyway as they get used to their role as a researcher. I believe if we switch to this method, we’ll not only have an easier + faster training; but I am also willing to bet that JRs will have a better understanding of the SOP and therefore have a higher chance of staying in research to get promoted to associate researcher or higher. I know our retention rate is down a lot and I firmly believe this could help increase it. This is how R&D does it and we have minimal problems when it comes to our lower ranks breaking SOP so I don’t believe it’ll lower the quality of JRs the training produces. Lastly; I know RFA (Research Field Agency) is not the most active currently and this is due to a variety of reasons. First off; they don’t have enough members which are being worked on by the RFA command via letting Field Agents grade test logs at the request of the person submitting the test log and thereby showing they want to join RFA. However; they also have another issue that is more out of their control. While I won’t say what they do exactly, I will say they are very event-oriented meaning they rely on events to give their sub-branch activity. However; we don’t see many events these days involving RFA in some way shape or form with them often having to request an event team member to give them something to do and sometimes during events, field agents get locked out of an event’s RP aspects such as interrogations in favor of Analysts or other SFs. This has at least been my experience in RFA and I believe this can be fixed by encouraging event team members to make events that involve RFA more often. RFA as a whole are underutilized by the event team when their whole thing is about events, I also believe the locking out part can be fixed by giving them clearance 4; they currently have a clearance of 3 which often leads to them getting left out of events in favor of SFs such as A4 and RRH to handle interrogations.

Why should we accept you into Research Low / Senior Command? (150 word minimum): I know that Research needs active command and with this part of the application I will further explain why I should be accepted into the spot of Research Command. While I have already stated how active I am on the server and my experience in R&D. There are a few things I believe I haven’t gone over that will be gone over here. First off; is my passion for Research + R&D, while I did explain this one a bit in the goal section of this application. I don’t believe I can overstate how much I enjoy RP-oriented stuff such as the RP provided by research. It’s why I left Gaminglight’s PoliceRP (sacrificing command ranks from there in the process but not as relevant so will leave it here) for SCPRP. This passion is what gives me the drive and motivation needed to be an exemplary command member; it makes me WANT to spend all my time possible helping out the branch because I know I enjoy it. You know the saying “do what you love you never work a day in your life”, well I firmly believe when it comes to my time in Research + R&D; I never truly worked a day in my life because of how much I enjoyed it. Secondly; I understand a lot of Research issues, while I might have differing opinions on what should be done to fix these issues compared to others. I still know and understand a ton of the issues plaguing research as you can see by my VERY long essay above in the “What issues does the branch face?” section. Lastly; I’d say I have a pretty good reputation amongst RP branches such as Research and R&D as someone who is a solid RPer, easy to talk to; and very hard working and I am confident enough to bet money on that. I hope you consider everything I have stated and see that I am an excellent fit for Research low command.

Cecil although he left before to go get a goal he personally really wanted. But since he’s come back he’s dived in and helped make the branch freaking amazing. He’s already helped to point out some problems within research and offering viable solutions. He is more than capable of helping Research command by joining us.

Ah yes Mr.Stedman

100% honest I used to think of you as an egotistical asshole but let me just say I was so wrong on that.

Cecil is pretty amazing he has no fear of expressing his opinions and he certainly has done a great job in R&D. I think he would absolutely thrive in this branch and help make it better!
