Do you have any other experience with staffing?: (If yes, explain) Absolutely. My prior experience is what convinced me to finally apply for staff. I have a bit more time on the server now after considering this application for a while, but after some support, I've finally decided to apply. I used to love staffing. It was a good hobby of mine. I used to be a Super Admin and Developer for an SCP RP server a while back, known as "Ascension Networks". I used to script and code SWEPs for them. Whatever they needed, I provided. (Just a cool little fact to throw out there, but the SWEP for SCP 999 in the server, the Cure Medkit is actually mine. I made that 🙂) During my experience, I met dozens of amazing people. Those nostalgic memories will always stay with me. I took a big break from GMod after Ascension died down. Life moved on, people got busy, and the server died down. Now it sadly doesn't exist. As of now, I've decided to search for a new server, and find another purpose on GMod as i really want to get back into staffing in such an incredible and lively community. During my experience in Gaminglight so far, just like the old times, I've met such amazing people, and i've already made such great memories to look back to. Being a part of staff would be a great honor, being surrounded by such great people.

What date did you start playing on the community? (roughly) I started playing on this specific server early January.  I used to play on gaminglight a little bit years ago in my late staff years when the server started to die down around the year of 2020.

What date did you make your forums account? February 13th

How many warnings do you have on all GL servers? None image.thumb.png.179eb83bc2de63188df72e034517dd07.png

What is your donor rank? (User, Silver, Gold, etc) Platinum

Are you a staff member in another community? No

Have you read the staff handbook? Of course

Timezone: EST (New York)

What rank are you applying for? Trial Mod

Why do you believe that you deserve the rank? (150 Word Minimum) As I stated in the first question, I used to staff and develop in another server a while back. Due to this, i have an insane amount of experience with staffing and developing as it used to be such a massive passion of mine. I have a very nurturing and helping personality. I love helping others, and due to the immense amount of time i used to staff for, Even from the very beginning of my staffing journey, I've possessed really good communication skills and I know how to handle any scenario thrown at me efficiently, and effectively, which I personally believe is a must if you're looking to be a part of absolutely any staff team. Moving forward in this staffing journey, as I grew with the Ascension community, those skills have only improved tenfold that it has become like muscle memory at this point. I have experience with everything having to do with ULX, Sits, Scripting, Implementing new add-ons to the server, Logging, PKs, and much more. You name it. I have absolutely everything having to do with SCP RP and SCP Lore in general burned into my brain as well. My 4000+ hours are all gained from my staffing experience. I was with the Ascension community for a good 2 and a half to 3 years. I was a very dedicated member of the staff and dev team. Expanding on this, I have a lot of dedication. When people look at a community, they just look at it as another server. When I look at this community, I see family. During all of my SCP RP staffing experience, i grew so close with so many people and got to learn so much about them. When you are with a community for this long, it becomes personal to you, emotional if you will. As you can imagine, when Ascension died, and everyone went their separate ways, that detication and passion then had nowhere to go, that is why i'm now looking for a new community to give that very dedication, passion, and love to. When you get to know so many people like that, and when you've been doing this for so long, you grow so attached. Because of this, moving back to the dedication, I would get on every single day. I wouldn't miss a day, and if i would, it would be known. When i dedicate my time to a community, i REALLY dedicate my time to it. It almost becomes routine. You'll never see inactivity from me. Even now, not being a part of staff, I'm on every day. One thing you won't see from me as well are strikes and warns. I feel as if it is so unbelievably unnecessary to do things that would result in a warn or strike. I was never a minge or troll. I simply cannot understand it. During my ENTIRE general GMod experience, in any server, i have never received a strike or warn. I take RP, and ESPECIALLY staffing, so seriously.

Scenario questions:

Select any two of the following four questions to answer for this section. Please note, in the scenario questions we are not expecting perfect answers. We are accessing your critical thinking skills, your ability to use the staff handbook, and come to reasonable conclusions.

I would like to answer every question if that's okay🙂 I really like scenario questions like these, as i have seen it all.

Q1: How would you handle someone that is Mass RDMing and when you bring him/her to an admin sit all they do is curse at you? This is very simple. I have had this happen to me dozens and dozens of times. Simply gag them, freeze them in any spot, and say anything you need to say. If you wish to separate the two, you can even have the RDMer/minger/troller put in a separate corner. This also benefits the sit on your side because each player cannot hear what each other has to say, avoiding any arguments, or false accusations.

Q2: You are involved in a staff sit that involves 5 different players. The players begin to get frustrated and the sit becomes very toxic and unproductive. What would you do in this situation? This situation is a bit more complicated, although it has happened to me before. There was a 6 player sit i had to take, involving a mass RDM. To get this situated, I would use a technique i learned back in my old staffing days. First separate every player and freeze them in a spot where nobody can hear each other. As you speak to each player, at the same time, this method would kind of act as a "cool down" for every player, similar to the jail system. As I'm speaking to one player, the others would have time to cool off, and get their stories and evidence straight before i speak to them. As you speak to each player, try and drain as much information, and evidence as you can from them, whilst maintaining a very calm, collected, professional, and respectful manor, to further increase the chance of de-escalating the situation, and improving the mood of each person involved.

Q3: In your opinion, what is the best way to handle a situation involving a player that clearly does not care about the punishments they are receiving? Usually players like these are heavy mingers, trollers and have NITRP. Due to this, their punishment would unfortunately, and inevitably result in a ban. If the person seems like they are actually able to be communicated with, maintain a very calm, collected, professional. and respectful attitude and manor as i stated before. This attitude is always the way to behave when in a sit as it increases the chance of the person becoming compliant, and understanding. Throughout all of this, communicate with this person in an empathically and understanding, yet stern tone. Tone is everything. You could say something in one tone, and completely screw everything up, and say the same thing in another tone, and save your sit.

Q4: There is a player abusing a known bug, and he has been reported to staff. He swears he followed the server rules when you talk with him. What's the best way to handle this? The best way to handle this situation, is to ask any witnesses if there is any, to provide you with any evidence they have such as clips, photos, or videos. This would rule out any lies, and you can decide your punishment right after. If no evidence but someone's word is available, using another method I've learned, you can still have a chance to get exactly what you need. First, bring any witnesses involved. Say there are 3, excluding the bug abuser. Separate every witness including the bug abuser. Having people together creates many many problems, such as false accusations, and arguments. First, talk to each witness. Listen to the first witnesses story from beginning to end, with as much detail as you can get from them. Look out for any verbal tones and signs hinting at lying as these are usually easy to point out. If they aren't and this person IS lying, but you don't know it, don't panic. You still have 3 other people to talk to. Next, speak to the next witness. As you speak to each one, each story should match up perfectly and the person is most likely guilty. If most, or all of the witnesses story is different, the person being accused is most likely innocent. Adding onto all of this, your logs are very important as they provide you with EVERY little thing a player does to further help you with your investigation. You can always spectate the person yourself and see if they are abusing the bug. If the person being accused of abusing this bug is guilty, firstly, try and issue a warning and not a ban (as offenses such as mass RDM is far worse) whilst speaking to this person about what they did is bad, and why it is bad. Sometimes, these people don't even realize they are doing something wrong. Simply inform them. Depending on the persons tone, and how respectful and understanding they are, choose the severity of your punishment. At times, minges are going to be minges, and you are going to get a person that is extremely disrespectful and uncompliant, and more severe punishments may be administered.
