SCP-999, Administered Intravenously

A report by Dr. Earl

SCP-999, in the course of their stay at Site 50, has become a beloved addition to the site's responsibilities. Being almost entirely beneficial, although somewhat mischievous at times, SCP-999 has been allowed to roam the facility at its own free will. Previous tests regarding the chemical makeup of SCP-999's body have yielded interesting results: SCP-999's gelatinous body seems to have a euphoric effect when administered orally, soothing the recipient with an effect similar to dopamine. With this in mind, one may ponder what other effects this gelatinous substance may have on the body and psyche.

Hypothesis: Considering the effects of SCP-999 when administered orally, I predict that an intravenous dosage would yield a more powerful sedative effect, similar to that of morphine. If this is the case, then it would open the door to potential usage of SCP-999's gelatinous excretions in medical use, or as a combat anesthetic to dull the pains of wounds inflicted during battle. I would suggest communicating with the Utility department to construct a device capable of administering such medicines quickly should this experiment yield favorable results.

Safety Hazards and Procedures: The main concern during this experiment is to insure the co-operation of the D-Class involved. To achieve this, each D-Class's compliance was enforced through the threat of termination via my escort. Obtaining a sample of SCP-999's gelatin from Foundation cold storage, I enlisted the help of one of our medical staff to administer the sample to each subject. The experiment unfolded without much incident, with the only notable occurrence being 몎^ڷɝ?񫒽ژՖvD/󵋦͠

topsy revealed no signs of physical trauma. The subject's body was disposed of following the rest of the experiment. D-3465 yielded much greater success. Upon receiving injection, the subject reported a feeling of intense euphoria, comparing it to past experiences with LSD. Over the course of thirty minutes of continued observation, the subject remained stable, although barely lucid, and unable to physically move. With the help of medical staff, the subject's vitals were recorded over the course of this observation period, presenting a slower heartrate and breathing rate than what is normal. These are, according to medical staff, signs of the influence of depressant drugs.

Conclusion: As simple as expected, this experiment proves that SCP-999's effects can be received in more ways than previously thought. Intravenous application seems to intensify the effects of the anomalous euphoria SCP-999 provides, but almost too much. Although medical application is still on the table, the idea of using them as a pain suppressant for our MTF forces would require more research to either support or deny its viability.
