I was thinking about things for a Christmas event for the server. I know it's gonna be big, but there is gonna probably need to be a lot of hours of planning for it to make it special. Before I give my ideas, these aren't necessarily good to other people but they seem cool in my on way. I might describe/explain them wrong, and if I do, my bad. First off, we need a Christmas tree somewhere on the map. It could have controllable lights but that requires more than just models it requires coding which I don't know if the developers wanna do for a simple Christmas tree. I think there should be something like an event badge or something. Don't know where it could be placed, but it'd be epic regardless. Maybe ships could have Christmas lights wrapped around them. For the week of Christmas, ya gotta keep Christmas music on sometimes. and for the greatest thing... christmas carolers. i dont know how this will work, but we need carolers lol that would be amazing. they don't have to be good at singing at all just run around the ship singing every once and a while. Those are my wonky ideas. Honestly, just thought this would be fun to make I don't really care if these are added. Unless..

Hey! I wanna make this post to give a fair warning for any newish people looking to apply for GM/Staff. If you are not known, in your best interest, probably don't wanna apply. I learned this the hard way, but I understand now that I cannot simply get staff just for playing the server you need to be more than just moderately interactive you need to be completely or at least majorly involved with everything. You need your name to be recognizable, and to have a good reputation. No, I'm not gonna help you with the application itself, but just help you with preparing. If you wanna be staff eventually, don't be like me and just apply with best of luck. I made this mistake, and I regret it. Kinda hurts with all of the things saying you made a terrible application, all of that and stuff. Honestly, experience playing the server will fix a big gap of this but not all of it. I was missing other things, yes, but my overall feedback (and my friends) were all about reputation and no one knowing who we are. (Can be any length) Honestly, I've applied for GM twice and people have already told me it's not for me. I agree, as GM just really doesn't feel right or sound right for me. I'm alright at hosting events and all of that stuff, but I would be better serving as a normal staff not a GM. I could get some current staff to vouch I am trustworthy and all of that but that doesn't matter as I will be representing the staff team so trust is more important than the word of a couple Trial Moderators. I would deserve the rank because I believe I could help people as staff. I know, the classic answer, but I mean it. Not only them, but myself. I've been getting de-motivated throughout COVID and I need something to occupy my free time. This is perfect, since I have a lot of free time and I'll be enjoying myself. How would you handle someone that is Mass RDMing and when you bring him/her to an admin sit all they do is curse at you? Warn them twice, third time give the punishment.

Why do you WANT to become a Gamemaster?: I wanna host epic events other people can benefit from, and also I want to be on duty and help people out in general and just be a good staff member. The Starfighters.. Personally, I've done this for a day now and I really like it! i've had a lot of fun patrolling, roleplaying and doing readouts, general comm interactions with ATC, and events that require SF dogfights. It's actually amazing in SF, I would recommend doing a tryout. By the way: You can be in 2 regiments at once (only 2 tho). You start with basic perms, you can spawn a Tie Fighter and fly whenever as an SF for patrols and other things. It's interesting seeing the big ships, and I would love to fly a big boi one of these days. (never gonna be able to but we can dream lol) The uniforms look cool, and its really nice flying and gives a nice break from regular regimental duties. I misspoke about Shock. I said its all guarding, it is not. I just said the boring part which is getting VERY unlucky and sitting with no action. Almost 19/20 of the time, it's not just guarding. You can do patrols, and other things on Shock besides just guarding. My bad about that statement haha.

I don't know if I am alone on this, or if it's not gonna happen. But I mine as well shoot my shot! I found out from the man, the myth himself, Hotshot our lord that only Manager's handle development. I understand this with trust issues on big servers like this, but a development team should be put into place for new things to be added to the game. I would join this as a junior/trial dev since I don't believe I am good enough for a full developer, but still. This would be a good way for more people to help contribute to the development, and always having new things to the game with bring new players since we have new content. No one should become a developer unless at least 2-3 weeks of being a trial developer (not actual game access) is done efficiently. During this time, you work in specified groups together to complete tasks. Then, when your squad passes, you guys can work good on the actual development team. Again, just a random idea my dumb brain decided to say on these forums, but hey! Ya never know, right? Lua is really easy to learn, and it's API is very easy to use as well for anyone wanting to possibly become a developer if this becomes an actual feature of ImperialRP. You could apply this to the other servers, but ImperialRP is the best so.

I have done tryouts before, yes. There are tryouts run spectacular, and run absolutely terrible. I think this needs to be fixed.. I had a few friends who didn't get into divisions that are really rare to have tryouts for, because the Host didn't say the question.. He couldn't cope with the player's FPS, so he kicked him out ( a different friend). Personally, I have had this twice with the questions. I think for Naval, it should be forum applications exclusively. Then, if you pass that, you can go have a privately hosted tryout. This can be for other regiments, but I've gotten my friends' reports mainly on Naval. Thanks for reading. Have a good day - Asp

I'd like to start a discussion on the future of this server, especially with it's activity in the hands of YouTubers like PixelCat and Beep. The server itself isn't, but youtubers playing it gave us activity. They can't take the activity away, but there have been a lot of incidents that are both offensive and annoying to members. Racial slurs, exploitation, mass RDM, and the like. We cannot prevent this, and it is a side effect, but I think we need to be stricter for ST PVTs. YouTubers can cause both good and bad, which even out to a mild state for servers. It works perfectly on GMod, but that is fortunate for us. Unfortunately, for other games the server would have a toxic playerbase flooding and it would be uncontrollable. PixelCat is a troller, so the toxicity and minges probably come from him. He is a good guy, but its the internet folks. Just be careful. Feel free to start a conversation in the comments if you have ideas that could be shared.

Again, I'm back! The other thread was popular, but I have got some great news for any new players looking for information! I just did my first "grinding" session on the server, consisting of me patrolling/rping/playing as a Shock for maybe 6 hours? Can't tell you enough.. Wasn't bored for more than five minutes. I got to do an awesome event, which I will give some constructive criticism on later, and just hang out. The Shock troopers are all great people. I hung out with them in a VC for a while, we chilled on the game and had a nice experience. Yeah, there is Chaos, but thats rare and everything needs a little Chaos. (dunno why i capitalized) Not to mention, I met a bunch of IQ, DT's, PT's, and naval people as well! I would recommend Naval because you actually get to roleplay in ATC (the main deck) and help the ships movements. There is a good view too. The event was good, but some aspects were bad. It was poorly run on one end, that being some people changed their RPNames to pretend to be Impostors and killed people. It'd be cool if nicknames are temporarily disabled for the event, or there are restrictions for things to preserve the event's stability. A great thing would be specified staff dedicated to running an events. They can cloak during events, spectate main areas and make sure it's going good. This would help. I'll probably make these posts daily for a while until I feel ready to apply for staff. Hey! I'm a new player. I'd like to provide my perspective on the server, regardless of anyone asking. This place is awesome! The true meaning of an SWRS is embodied into this action-packed server. The regimental duties aren't boring, and this is coming from a shock trooper. I have met a lot of great people, and a lot of friends through this server. Maybe one day, I'll become a staff member and help preserve this awesome place. Only issues I see are there not being restrictions on certain things that are annoying. These include, but not limited to; the button, the sith throne, etc. Overall, the best SW server on GMod. Keep it up.
