SCP-012

Goal of Research:

SCP-012’s influence has been observed predominantly while under observation of visible light. Concurrently, while observed under infrared light, these effects appear to be negated or possibly satiated. This implies that photon energy at point of retinal observation (corresponding to visible light observation) is responsible for the observed effects SCP-012 displays. Currently, no research has been shown for contact or apparent observation with an absence of these photons, in a dark space. This research aims to observe the SCP in question within it’s testing chamber while no light source is visible.

Hypothesis:

If the observation of SCP-012 is linked to photon energy at point of retinal observation, and direct observation of SCP-012 occurs in the respective containment cell with absence of photons (light source), then SCP-012 will not have any adverse effects on the respective subjects.

Methods:

The head researcher and escort on this test must be turned from the area of testing at all times. Failure to comply will result in immediate termination. Three D-Class will be used for the testing of this hypothesis. They will each be briefed on their objectives, but not the nature of SCP-012. The first D-Class will be sent in as a control, observing SCP-012 with full lighting and containment cell open, as would be naturally observed. The second D-Class will enter the containment chamber while researchers close the containment cell door behind. This second D-Class will observe the instance of SCP-012 with their flashlight ON. A time frame of 20 seconds of observation will be carried out before the test chamber doors are opened. The third D-Class will enter the containment chamber as the second D-Class did, with containment cell doors closing from behind, however once within the testing chamber the D-class in question will not turn on their provided flashlight. They will observe the SCP as normal with no light present. A time frame of 20 seconds of observation will be carried out before the test chamber doors are opened. All surviving D-Class will then be amnesticized and returned to their cells.

Observation:

D-Class ‘Subject One’ was observed entering the testing chamber for SCP-012. He was observed by escort and observing researchers as unable to move away from the SCP-012 instance for a short time. After repeated attempts, he was able to safely leave the testing chamber. ‘Subject One’ was then administered amnestics and returned to his cell

‘Subject Two’ was instructed to enter SCP-012’s chamber with their provided flashlight ON. The testing chamber was closed for 20 seconds before it was reopened and the subject was instructed to leave the testing chamber. ‘Subject Two’ struggled to leave the testing chamber at first but was then able to exit. Upon inquisition of their observations, the D-Class stated that they heard an incomprehensible voice speaking to them. No other observations were reportedly made. ‘Subject 2’ retrieved a handgun from within their jumpsuit and proceeded to fire upon escort, which resulted in termination of ‘Subject Two’.

‘Subject 3’ was instructed to enter SCP-012’s chamber with their provided flashlight OFF. The testing chamber was closed for 20 seconds before it was reopened. ‘Subject 3’ was found deceased within the cell with large lacerations on their wrists. Blood was found transcribed upon SCP-012 in an attempt to “complete” the inscribed music piece.

Results:

The results of this study did not match the expected hypothesis, as all D-Class succumbed to the effects of SCP-012. This implies that the energy of the photon at point of retinal observation is not in fact what causes SCP-012's effect. This research leads to even further questions, such as whether photons of any other energy wavelength besides visible light is responsible for the observed phenomenon. Further testing is currently awaiting approval from Doctor █████ and Assistant Supervisor ███████ for potential movement of SCP-012 to a more suitable temporary containment cell for this research. At this time, observation of SCP-012 under any conditions is expected to result in the observed effect, and observation is discouraged outside of the research setting.

95/100

I really enjoyed reading this test log. I have never seen this test idea before so bonus points for that!

This test exceeds expectations and hope you can produce even better test logs in the future.

The only thing I would say that you should do next time is add evidence of the test happening via Picture or Video since you could have had a higher mark if so.

Overall really great test log and keep it up! 😄
