  4. Lore Name: Pandemic Rank: Assistant Researcher SCP: SCP-5208-GL Question / Idea: Are SCP-5208-GL instances living beings with functioning systems of organs? Background Research: SCP-5208-GL is a humanoid entity which resembles a toy soldier in appearance. Each instance can possess weapons including firearms which are fully functional. They are especially dangerous in groups, as they function well in groups. SCP-1025 is a book titled “The Encyclopedia of Common Diseases”. When opened, it opened to a seemingly random page of a disease. The reader then contracts said disease. Some diseases are immediately fatal, while others are long-term or chronic and could take years to present symptoms. Based on their appearance, it is unknown whether or not SCP-5208-GL is considered human, or if they will be capable of contracting diseases via SCP-1025, or at all. If they do, it may serve as proof that they have functional organs, or that they were originally human. Hypothesis: I hypothesize that these instances will contract some diseases, but not others. Observations (What Happened During Test): The first SCP-5208-GL instance opened SCP-1025 to “Spontaneous Combustion”. It immediately caught fire, flailed its body in panic, and collapsed within 8 seconds. The instance showed smoldered clothes and signs of burns on its skin, indicating that the skin is organic in nature. The second and third instance opened SCP-1025 to the page “Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva”. Both instances froze in place immediately and remained that way for more than 10 minutes until they were killed by onsite GenSec at their request. Both instances yelled and screamed, begging to be helped, and then to be killed. The fourth instance opened SCP-1025 to the page “Cardiac arrest”. The instance began contorting and seemingly gasping for air, and collapsed after 3 minutes and 25 seconds. None of the instances moved after their apparent “deaths.” The bodies were taken by the medical team, autopsied to confirm their causes of death, and then placed into cold storage for later use. Evidence/Visual Stimuli (N/A if unable/none): N/A Analysis / Conclusion (What Could Of Caused The Results): The SCP-5208-GL instances all responded to each disease identically to the way a human would. This may be because SCP-1025 directly targets the affected organs when it is activated, and it is possible that SCP-5208-GL instances have some organs but not others. As of current knowledge, SCP-5208-GL does not need to eat, or drink. They may not need to breathe. Thus, we can cross off the existence of the digestive system. However, they can see, hear, and think. This suggests that the eyes, ears, and brain are very much existent and functional. They are capable of combusting, and their skin is seemingly organic in nature. Their clothes burned the way cotton clothes normally would. Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva affects the muscles and tendons by turning them to bone, indicating that SCP-5208-GL instances have a functioning muscular system that is carbon-based and humanoid in nature. This test proved that SCP-5208-GL instances are carbon-based lifeforms, and possess a skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, and cardiovascular system. Other systems may or may not exist, but can be potentially tested for. Was Your Hypothesis Correct?: My hypothesis was partially correct, as all the diseases in SCP-1025 during this experiment directly affected the SCP-5208-GL instances. We did not have enough subjects to determine the existence of all possible organs, but we confirmed some.
