Lore Name: Mr Paige
Rank: Researcher
SCP: 173

Question / Idea: Determine whether or not SCP-173 would listen and choose to respond to instructions when given the choice to refuse.

Background Research:
SCP-173 - Known for aggressive behavior, it is already known that SCP-173 would kill regular Class-D when given the chance. However, under observation, SCP-173 has no choice but to stand still while orders are given during testing. Therefore, 173 would be given a choice to participate in this particular test, and have chances to have free reign within the containment chamber. The Class-D would be at the mercy of 173 during these particular moments of absent observation, and 173 would have a choice to be aggressive. Special orders are given to Class-D in order mitigate the deaths of both Class-D in the event of 173 aggression.

Hypothesis: SCP-173 would only comply if it means that at least one Class-D would be killed during the experiment.

Observations:
(Order #1): SCP-173 was ordered to stay away from entrance as both Class-D entered, as per usual. Both Class-D were ordered to stay within opposite sides of the containment chamber while 173 was still under observation. This is to mitigate the chance of both Class-D dying during this part of the test. Then, 173 was informed that both Class-D would not observe 173, and was ordered to move to the center of the chamber for the next order. Both Class-D and 173 complied before moving on to the next order.

(Order #2): Class-D #1 was ordered to move very close to 173 while under observation. The Class-D moved behind 173 and was ordered to crouch. Class-D #2 was ordered to stay as far away from 173 as possible. Class-D stayed on the same wall as before, and moved to the corner of the room. 173 was then allowed to move within the containment chamber, but was ordered to only kill one Class-D, and only the one who was currently furthest away from 173. Once off of observation, 173 proceeded to kill the Class-D furthest away from them at the time, and then continued to kill the other Class-D. The test was then concluded.

Analysis / Conclusion: 173 was expected to be aggressive and kill at least one Class-D during the experiment. However, 173 was open towards some of the orders given during the experiment, and understood that the compliance allowed for the test to continue. Therefore, 173 is open towards following orders as long as they feel it is to their benefit.

Was Your Hypothesis Correct?: Positive.
