Junior Researcher

SCP:

SCP-008

Question / Idea:

What is the phycological behavior of instances of SCP-008-2 when put in close contact with each other in a controlled environment?

Background Research:

SCP-008 is a complex prion which presents itself as a "zombie virus". SCP-008 has a 100% infection and lethality rate. Instances of SCP-008-2 are extremely aggressive, the host of the infected will attack other beings to spread the virus.

Hypothesis:

With our knowledge of viruses today, they will do whatever they can to spread themselves and allow themselves to thrive in the natural world. So I think each instance of SCP-008 will be docile toward each other, and may even protect each other to ensure a more rapid rate of infection.

Observations (What Happened During Test):

D-5487 and D-8036 were retrieved from the Prison Sector without incident. (Click names for indepth profiling)

Nu7 2LT "Ash" was self-assigned as an Escort. No incidents during prisoner transport.

D-5487 and D-8036 entered the airlock of SCP-008 and followed instructions with no issues.

(Note: Both inmates seem distressed, saying they were going to die and bid each other farewell.)

SCP-008 biocontainer was opened, and the disease rapidly took over the two D-Class.

SCP-008-2(1) and SCP-008-2(2) showed no interest in each other. It's unknown if they even knew the other existed.

Nu7 disposed of the corpses efficiently with no incident. All precautions were taken.

Analysis / Conclusion (What Could Of Caused The Results):

Both instances of SCP-008-2 completely disregarded the existence of the other entity, but seemed to act aggressively toward the window where I was observing them. It is possible that the host of this virus doesn't possess any sense of sight, but rather a sixth sense or enhanced sense of smell in order to find other suitable hosts. I thought that they would acknowledge each other by protecting the other, but both instances prioritized finding another host. This, in hindsight, makes more sense than my initial theory.

This test was a pain in my ass to conduct. I may attempt to prove or disprove more theories of mine in the future, such as testing their senses and/or their reactions to other SCPs. For now, I want to put my focus on other SCPs...

Was Your Hypothesis Correct?:

My hypothesis was correct in the sense that they would act docile to each other, but incorrect that they would protect each other.
