General Suggestion - Combat Healing Rework - Accepted [Completed]

What are you suggesting?

-Hard coded combat healing timer. Upon taking damage the player cannot physically use (Heal themselves or other players) the medkit or the armor kit for 7 seconds.

-Removal of combat healing in the MOTD.

 

How would this change better the server?

Combat on GL is very unique to say the least. Simply by the power of the source engine there are lots of different things players can do to make themselves harder to hit, move differently, etc. Despite combat mechanics not having any restrictions, healing restrictions still apply, and I believe its about time we ditched the "realistic" standard and put some more power to the players

Hard coding combat healing would make healing out of RP much more technical and skill based allowing more much bigger plays out of support jobs. It would massively increase activity in those branches/sub branches as they hold much higher value in a fight and healing would have a higher skill ceiling. Avoiding getting hit while knowing how to prioritize and heal others becomes a skill, allowing support classes to finally make a difference when they usually feel they can't. Nobody has to sit around and wait 7 seconds every time the person you are trying to heal shoots.

This would also reduce a huge weight on the shoulders of these players as it becomes purely technical, with staff and the players not having to worry about combat healing as a rule anymore. 

 

Are there any disadvantages of making this change to the server? If so, explain.

With the benefits this could provide, there are some drawbacks. If this were to happen, no combat healing restrictions would be insane in the right hands, with single people on support classes being able to quite literally carry shootouts with healing. it also removes some of the lenient benefits of old healing (lets be real here nobody waits their combat healing timer). Stalemates might become common as the normal battles of attrition can be completely negated by support classes.

 

Who would this change mostly benefit?

Every branch uses medkits and/or armor kits (yes, even d-class), so this would be a pretty massive change that affects the entire server.

+support if this can be coded into the game (and candy canes included with this, not just health and armor kits) it would be a huge QOL change for staff as proving who may or my not be combat healing based off just the sound of a video clip is near impossible unless it’s actually seen in the video.  would also stop a lot of combat healing people do with both candy canes and health kits, which happens more often than most would think.

would also like to see more people play on support classes, and a change like this could significantly help

On One hand +1 It is an absolut awesome idea and would help a lot with Staff sits.

 

But then on the other Hand, even throught most of the People probaly dont realize it yet, this is a massive Buffs to Armor Kits and Health kits, in Shorth, every Second row Class will become much much more stronger with the Timer Removed, since they dont need to wait 7 Seconds to heal the person you just Shot, or People can walk behind a Buildet Firing line, where they will rarely be hit at all and can heal a a lot of Damage done to the People in the First Line,
