The $100 Warn Wipe just a cash grab (opinion piece)

The $100 Warn Wipe just a cash grab by the admins to attempt to bring back players to the server.  This warn wipe is designed to bring back the worst members of the server instead of promoting new players.

Here are some reasons this is a bad product to sell:

1. There are not alot of players still around from 2019 to 2020 that actively play on the server in the first place.

2. Most players have a warn or two from silly mistakes they made when they first joined the server. They have learned from their experiences and bettered themselves. I am an example of this. This warn wipe is for people who have so many warns they either left the server entirely or were banned.

3. The people who NEED this warn wipe are people we dont want on the server anyways. These are the people who didnt ever try to improve and just kept acting like idiots and ignoring the rules until they either left or were banned.

4. Warns should go away after a certain amount of time anyways. Asking for money to remove a warn is scummy. If it was something like $1 a warn then sure but $100 is insane.

This warn wipe will attract toxic people back to this community and allow them an easy way back into the server. Why should they try and change when they could just pay their way back into the server and pick up where they left off not following rules and ruining the server (like ZJ)?

Work on attracting new members to the community instead of trying to get kids to buy their way back in.

tbh I gotta disagree with some of the points here, this isn't encouraging the "worst" people to hop on, it's encouraging people who have improved since then to come back. Knew a friend that back in 2019ish was a major minge and racked up 28 warns as a result, which when he returned in late 2021 he was still seen as a huge minge despite obvious signs of improvement, if they are willing to pay 100 bucks for a warn wipe, then they are highly likely there to start taking the server seriously. While I agreed with your previous post that criticized certain aspects of gaminglight, the warn wipe has given people a chance to improve themselves and if they keep fucking up they'll just end up right back to where they started.

Gonna go against you here Tomato. Good opinion piece however but food for thought. I think most of this anger would be better shifted toward paid blacklist appeals. You bring up ZJ as an example who was nowhere close in warns, just straight blacklisted. That paid appeal and subsequent re-blacklist still caused a massive damage to branches of his involvement.

However here, warns are inherently nothing. At most would reset progress to the ban thresholds. High level offenses are often straight permenent or blacklisted and those can't be wiped. Low level offenses are managable by current staff. This package is at least reasonable to only date back to 2020 and before. Price a bit high? Sure. But the greater majority of those who absolutely NEED tend to have gotten them in quick succession very recently. Very very few would have like 39 warns from 2020 and coming back now. This was intended for those that had clean records from like 2021 on, is still here, and actually wants that clean record physically.

And no, timed expiration is basically the same scenario as you bring here. Would be more choatic.

100% agree, feel the focus should have been placed on this rather than the paid warn wipes; don't think people deserve to keep warns from 2017 that are especially heinous that clearly don't reflect their opinions or actions today

Many people have stated some great reasons above, which I won't be going over, however I want to make something a little clear.

Gaminglight is a business, it needs to make money, and it's going to find ways to make as much money as possible. Does Zeeptin make a truck load of money? Absolutely, but profit is a key incentive in business and that is not at all a bad thing, in fact it's to be expected. Is the package pricey? Definitely, but Gaminglight has 3 GMOD servers to run and manage, all with large dedicated playerbases that need to be satisfied, and maintaining and upgrading that kind of thing shockingly enough, costs money.

I am no businessman, and I don't know how Gaminglight uses its money, however I certainly do not believe Gaminglight is trying to be the next EA here.

Additionally, if someone wanted to spend $100 to wipe their warns, it's highly unlikely they'd do it to just get banned again. ZJ was a very rare case and after he did it like twice they just decided to stop letting him buy unbans.

Tbh I’m fine with the warn wipe package but i think it should show under the warns menu like

*WARN WIPE PACKAGE CLEARED: XX WARNS*

just so if staff go to look at someone’s warn history in a sit they know if there was prior incidents or if it is  just worth a verbal warning.
