How would this change better the server? - This change would give ALL branches an opportunity to advertise their department and alert people to upcoming tryouts if the department is tryouts only or explain the other means to join the branch such as applying on the forums so those that are interested in finding a new branch will have an easier time deciding what branch to go to. Are there any disadvantages of making this change to the server? If so, explain. - Honestly only disadvantage I can think of is that staff would have another channel to moderate simply put. Who would this change mostly benefit? - I think this is one of those few changes that benefits almost everyone as almost everyone wants to join a branch on the server. Command also benefits a lot since they have a means to actively recruit people into the branch. It works on the other gaminglight servers pretty well. I think it'll work great here! Please link any workshop content, screenshots, or anything that you think may be helpful to those who view this suggestion - Below I have attached examples of what the channel could be like. MTF have a GenSec channel in which they can announce their tryouts and such + there are only 2 branches that need a tryout to be entered which is Nu7 and D5. Starter departments such as research or branches such as CI would benefit from it tho as they could advertise to new players the means you can join said departments. It'd be more of a general department advertising channel! Starter branches (Research, Security, Medical/Maint) all have specific trainer jobs tied to them thats not hard to locate and can be easily explained how to get to them for players unaware (F4 > Branch you want to join > [Branch name] Trainee/ Utility Trainee (For medical/maint) > Apply for Job) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It also honestly seems a lot of work for Command to be pinging twice as more when we have the old trainer and trainee job to help with that. Coltable Posted January 18, 2022 Share Posted January 18, 2022 If we were to add this i would say we would just allow 1 "advert" per branch on the server in the channel which can link to their applications etc and tell users a brief run down of the branch, As must as id like a channel where users can @ everyone 24/7 it would get quite annoying fast. The SCP-RP SMT has decided against adding this suggestion for performance reasons, the benefit to the server, or another unstated reason.
