SCP-009

Completed log of SCP-009's properties on Site 50

For background research, see here:

https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-009

(Disclaimer: I am no mathematician by any standards. Please forgive me if calculations are not 100% accurate.)

(in our universe, the properties between the player and SCP-009 are different from the SCP wiki, which I will be going over in this log)

Question 1:

How long does it take for a person to be completely encased in red ice?

Test Log 3/10 for 12/06/2021:

D-Class by the name of sallymcsaggytits enters containment chamber.

Timer starts as soon as he touches SCP-009.

Red hue appears on D-Class 2-5 seconds after exposure.

(D-class hue becomes increasingly more red, while movement speed drops at a gradual rate from initial exposure)

D-class ceases movement and locks into place as they are frozen, completely encased in red ice.

Time.

Stopwatch reads 30 seconds.

Results of Test:

30 seconds happened to be the average of all 10 tests.

I figured. 3 minutes MINIMUM for contamination process to start like the wiki says

would have been way too long for me to get a good test.

Numbers:

The average human volume is 62,000 cubic centimeters

62,000cc in 30 seconds

SCP-009 spread rate =

2066 cc/s

Question 2:

How long would it take for the whole site to be encased in red ice

in the event of a breach?

Let's say, hypothetically, Site 50 had its own water source.

We have no hazmat suits, no previous knowledge of what SCP was.

And then some [REDACTED] dropped SCP-009 into the water main.

(this would most likely be the optimal way to weaponize SCP-009)

Numbers:

On average, we have around 80 personnel inside of the facility, including D-Class.

On average, we should wash our hands 6-10 times a day (COVID-19 Statistic).

While highly unlikely,

It would most likely take 12 hours for every person in the facility to become encased in red ice.

Question 3:

How long would it take for the world population alone to turn into red ice?

Let's say, hypothetically, that every person on earth was holding hands in a line.

One person touches SCP-009,

and it can only spread once the entire person is encased in ice.

Same goes for the next person, and so on.

Numbers:

As of December of 2021, there are 7.9 billion people alive on earth right now.

On average, it takes 30 seconds for a person to become

completely encased in red ice. (Gaminglight properties I tested for)

The maximum amount of time it would take for the world population to cease to exist is

7516 years.

(Keep in mind this is the MAXIMUM amount of time.

if these people were bundled together,

that number would most likely be 2 digits long)

Question 4:

How long would it take for the ocean to turn into SCP-009?

Let's say, hypothetically, that someone dropped SCP-009 into

the Atlantic Ocean and was NOT capable of changing it's temperature.

We can assume it has the properties of ice and can only spread

at 2066 cc/s

Numbers:

It is estimated that there are 321,003,271 cubic miles of water in the ocean.

Because of SCP-009's properties tested at Site 50,

SCP-009 can only spread at a rate of

2066 cubic centimeters per second (in the human body, at least).

This is a fluid dynamics question. I am nowhere near qualified enough to answer this accurately,

Therefore, I will leave this question open to anyone who can solve this equation properly

while taking into account the properties of salt water and ice.

(Sorry guys!)

If I had to guess, however, the ocean would most like turn into red ice in

under 100  years.

Keep in mind, if SCP-009 were to EVER reach the ocean,

life on earth would cease to exist within that time.

Conclusion:

We have learned a great deal about SCP-009. These are the questions I wanted answers to,

and so I set out to find them. Hopefully whoever is reading this has learned a great deal as to the properties of SCP-009.

Important Notes:

According to Senior Researcher Hockey's Test at at Site 50,

SCP-009 is capable of person-to-person contamination.

(Imagine a D-class running through Light Containment Zone

touching everything with SCP-009 in tow? What a disaster!)
