The issue with ACM - Denied

October

Recommended Posts

What you want to see? - It simply doesn’t make sense for utility to be combative, so I would like to see ACM no longer viewed as a combat class and more of a “self defense” class.

Why should we add it? - I’ve made my opinion clear on utility being combatants and you can all give me hate for this, but I don’t think utility has a role in being watered down MTF, and therefore I don’t think ACM should be a glorified security job. For example, today I was flying around spectating people as I do on staff and I see 3 ACM at the end of d-block hallway with an awp just shooting in, I don’t think that should be medical’s role.

Furthermore, CI no longer attack utility and there is a branch dedicated to stopping CI (O-9) and one of E11’s biggest jobs is stopping CI. It’s unneeded and at this point they’ve turned into GENSEC with a medkit.

Yes, there is an argument that MTF needs a mobile medic and this class fulfills it more than a regular field medic can, but MTF already have a medical job (except E11).

What are the advantages of having this? - I think it doesn’t make sense for the position to exist, while I recognize that medical deserves their level job I just don’t think this is it. The advantage would be that it simply makes sense.

Who is it mainly for? - just for people who don’t believe it makes sense for any utility to be a combatant class. It also helps Nu7 because ACM takes away one of their main jobs which is reinforcing d-block, we’ve gotta give Nu7 some love.

Anyways I’m prob about to lose a bunch of rep which makes me sad but whatever, I don’t mean this as a shitpost this is my actual opinion. Please leave a +/- support and don’t start a fight.

(EDIT): many people have commented that it is currently a self defense class, but this is false. Please understand that this is a combat class similar to MTF (according to both Hoovy and Inaccurate).

You're literally trying to make this a Field Medic Class.

We aren't security. If anyone is acting like security then ask someone in command (like me). But when D-block is rioting (which is going on a lot more and worse lately) then it helps security out. Also remember that escaping D-block is supposed to be hard. With CI I can understand especially with the new rules in place but you also have to remember that ACM is usually empty and can always be changed in the future to expand on the growing rules and interactions with CI. But for D-class, again especially with the riots starting to happen for hours on end, it is needed. It ruins all RP for research and utility and this is there to help.
NOTE- I am not against making it 'self-defense' to CI (even tho not for it either) but for D-class it is necessary.

The thing is ACM's should ONLY be able to attack in self defense, not just full combat that makes it a bit better, as they're still prime thing is for healing not for combat so +/- support

They aren't suppose to be a combatant class, they are suppose to be a self-defense class. Report to your command if they are doing otherwise.

Think of it as the RIG Unit within Research, they are tasked with escorting researchers, acting out only in self-defense. This same rule is applied with the Advanced Combat Medic, instead of escorting they have different priorities within the act of self-defense for certain jobs. They aren't General Security or MTF.

You’re misreading the suggestion, they ARE a combat class and I’m suggesting to make it a self defense class.

I haven't seen a problem with ACMs' place on the server, or the things they do, be it from a fairness or a strategy perspective. Therefore I can't honestly support changing their rules of engagement. With the loss of E11 Combat Medics, ACM have grown to fill an important role and they help out a lot to MTF, Medbay, and Gensec personnel, and also give a huge reward for medbay players to look forward to one day unlocking.

The main argument I keep hearing against ACMs right now is "They're a utility job", rather than a way they are affecting balance of combat branch interactions. If they're truly unfair in some way in the current way they exist, we can think of other ways to make them more fair-- Be it through armory restrictions, stat changes, d block restrictions, etc.

I don't think it's fair to completely rollback this job to self-defense only ROE though.

They are currently (in my opinion) watered down MTF, I would like them to look like a clash between RIG and field medic, which I understand many people don’t want, I just don’t think they have a role as watered down MTF/GENSEC.

Then I apologize, I was trying to reword it in a different way since I thought it was only suppose to be a self-defense class.

I would love to work with you guys if it is an actual issue, but as Beanz said, your only argument is cause it's a Utility Job.
