Ronnan's childhood is left unknown but data sugests that he left his family at the age of 18 to become a Capital Ship designer. While originally he worked at Kuat Drive yards, he became conflicted with the views of the Galactic Republic. He secretly joined the Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corps and continued to design capital ships for the Separatists. In 22 BBY, at the age of 20, Ronnan was being moved to another facility with the use of a small fleet. The fleet was atacked by pirates and he was the only organic being on the ship. He used his calculating and ruthless nature to lead the droids. The small battle was a success that would start his career in the Separatist Navy. Admiral Trench heard about Ronnan and his backstory, so he decided that Ronnan would be a good leader in the Separatist Navy because of his knowledge of both Republic and Separatist ship designs and how they were made, but also because he proved himself able to take command whenever needed. Under the strict supervision of Admiral Trench, Ronnan carried out Naval engagements in the Outer Rim with a incredible success rate. He quickly rose to become a Admiral in the Separatist navy, shortly after the demise of Admiral Trench at Anaxes. In 19 ABY Admiral Ronnan participates in the Battle of Coruscant but flees the battlefield when the Invisible Hand crashed on Coruscant. Ronnan understood that something about the war was wrong so he tried to contact the Separatist Council. They failed to respond. Ronnan knew the separatists lost the war and knew he would be executed aswell if found by the newly formed Galactic Empire. He altered his overall appearence, changed his name and removed any sign on him being apart of the Separatist Navy.
