Name: Eyelander Current Rank: Lead Researcher Estimated Time In Research: Since 1/11/2021 Why should you be in RC? What do you bring to the table that others don't?: I believe that I should receive one of the positions in Research Command because of how dedicated and committed I am to the server. I say that I am like this because I've spent hours upon hours just thinking of good test ideas, and writing test logs, just to make them as good as I can. I also say that I am committed because I follow through with tests that I doubt myself on, for example, when I was writing the log for a test that I did on 079, I doubted that it would be any good, and I thought it would feel forced. Despite this, I persevered, and I committed to finishing the test log, and it turned out great. While this commitment is shared by many other members, I believe that the level of dedication that I bring to the table is greater than most others(no offense). In conclusion, my commitment and dedication to the Research Branch is why I should join Research Command, and the amount of commitment is what sets me apart from others. What would you do to increase activity and to better the Research Branch?: My personal philosophy is that people do better and enjoy things more when they are told that there is a reward for doing something, rather than telling them there is a punishment for not doing it. This carries over into Research activity because you can apply the same logic: If you force people to be active, they won't enjoy being in the research branch as much, which is not a good thing. On the other hand, if you do something like hosting a competition to see who can make the most creative test, who can train the most people, etc., people will have an incentive to start becoming more active on research jobs, which benefits the entire branch. On a slightly related note, let me propose my ideas as to how we can better the branch, other than just increasing activity. One big problem that this branch has at the moment is the amount of time you need to wait in between tests, you need to spend time thinking of a test idea, you might need to spend time waiting for the Defcon to go from Red to Yellow, time waiting for an escort, and the list goes on. All of this can take a while, which makes the Research Branch feel very boring to new researchers. Interestingly enough, the solution to this problem is similar to one way to increase activity in the research branch, using incentives. If people are incentivized to host more mass tests, researchers waiting to start a new test can attend these mass tests and get more enjoyment out of the research branch.

Name: Eyelander Rank: Senior Researcher SCP: 682 ==================== Idea: What if, instead of filling 682's containment with hydroflouric acid, we filled his containment with viridatis acid? Background Information: Viridatis acid is a custom acid, created by Researcher Michael Priest and I, comprised of Carborane Acid, Battery Acid, traces of Y-909, a small amount of liquidized SCP-500, a syringe full of vaccine chemicals, and materials from a used smoke grenade. Without context, the description listed above may sound like some sort of recipe to cook meth, however, these ingredients create a very efficient superacid that is be able to contained in a bottle, and that has the ability to spread throughout other acids that it is emptied into. Hypothesis: Viridatis acid will be an extremely painful acid that will be effective against 682, making hydrofluoric acid obsolete. ==================== Observations: In the beginning of the experiment, 682 was told that the acid was changed to a new type of acid, called viridatis acid. The anomaly noted that the new acid was weaker than the previous acid that had been used on him. Already, I began to lose hope in the power of the new acid. When questioned more about it a bit later, he said that he felt a tingling sensation in his abdomen. We were getting somewhere. He described the sensation as a burning feeling, or an irritation, and it was beginning to spread across his body. I also asked 682 to rate the amount of irritation he felt, on a scale of 1 to 10. When prompted this, he responded with 2, which is an obvious sign that this acid is a work in process. Around the end of the test, I asked 682 to describe the difference between hydroflouric acid and viridatis acid. His answer was: "While hydroflouric acid was more hurtful to me, it only hurt my submerged body parts. Viridatis, on the other hand, hurt me less, however, it hurt much more of me." ==================== AUDIO LOG Note: The speech mannerisms of 682 have been removed in order to make the message of what the anomaly was saying was clear. . .<Start of Audio Log> . [Papers are shuffled around.] . SR Eyelander: "Has the acid been spread into 682's chamber?" . MTF Nu7 PVT J0LT C00L: "Yes." . SR Eyelander: "Good. We can now proceed with the test." . [A switch is pulled, 682's chamber is filled with the modified acid.] . [The scientist clears his throat.] . SR Eyelander, shouting: "Hello, 682. We have changed the type of acid in your chamber, to a newer type of acid." . SR Eyelander: "Can you feel a difference?" . 682: "No, not really. If anything, it feels weaker than the regular stuff they pump into here. Regardless of it's power compared to the other acid, it's like swimming water to me." . SR Eyelander: "I see." . [The scientist pauses, writing noises are heard.] . SR Eyelander: "Alright. Please describe how this acid makes you feel, any pains it gives you, does it hurt at all, etcetera." . 682: "I feel a slight tingling sensation in my abdomen." . SR Eyelander: "Could you go into further detail about the tingling?" . 682: "It's sort of like a burning feeling, and it's also like an irritation." . [The scientist pauses again, repeating what the anomaly said under his breath.] . SR Eyelander: "Regarding the irritation aspect- is it similar to an itch, or a rash maybe?" . 682: "Yes, it's like an itch I have, except I feel it in many places." . SR Eyelander: "I thought it was just in the abdomen." . 682: "The area it effects has expanded." . SR Eyelander: "Interesting." . SR Eyelander: "On a scale of one to ten, could you rate how irritating the sensation is?" . 682: "Probably a two." . SR Eyelander: "I see." . SR Eyelander: "One final question. Could you describe the overall difference between this new acid and hydroflouric acid?" . 682: "I think that the hydroflouric acid is more painful, but doesn't hurt me in that many places, only my submerged body parts. The viridatis acid, on the other hand, hurts less, but it hurts in many places." . SR Eyelander: "Thank you." . .<End of Audio Log> ==================== Post Test Notes and Thoughts Conclusion: At the moment, viridatis acid does not seem to be an upgrade to hydroflouric acid, more like a sidegrade that is very situational. It definitely shows potential, and if we dedicated the necessary time and resources to it, it could become a very useful tool to use against 682. Was your Hypothesis Correct?: No, I completely and totally underestimated the power of 682, and I forgot how much he can tolerate pain. ====================

Name: Eyelander Rank: Senior Researcher SCP: 049 =================== Question: How does SCP-049 describe the pestilence? What are the symptoms, what is the cause, are there any cures other than his brutal cure? Hypothesis: 049 may think that the pestilence is similar to the Bubonic Plague, or other viral outbreaks, due to the fact that he is dressed like a medieval doctor. =================== Observations: The anomaly thinks that the pestilence is some sort of decay in the body, a gradual disease that gets progressively worse over time. He says that we call it life, but he knows that it is a disease, and his cure is the only way to cure it. . .<Start of Audio Log> . [Footsteps are heard, from both the researcher and the SCP anomaly.] . SR Eyelander: "Hello. I have a few questions for you, if you have the time." . SCP-049: "Indeed." . SR Eyelander: "Do you sense the pestilence in me?" . SCP-049: "I do." . SR Eyelander: "Would you be so kind to tell me the symptoms of "the pestilence"? . SCP-049: "The disease is a slow decay in your body, as your cells slowly fade away. You begin to lose cells over a long period of time, as it gets worse and worse while you have it. Eventually, the disease will become extremely predominant, and it will effect you to the point where you can no longer move, no longer breath, and the only thing you can do is wither away. All of you may call it "life", however, it can only be described as a disease. . SR Eyelander: "Alright. Are there any other cures than yours?" . SCP-049: "The medications and prescriptions that you use are very ineffective, they can never cure the pestilence, they only delay it's effects... my cure is the only one that is effective enough to cure it." . SR Eyelander: "What causes people to have the pestilence?" . SCP-049: "Simple. It is the decay of cells over time that causes it, and this decay causes you to age and become weaker." . SR Eyelander: "I see. Well, that's all the questions I have for now. Thank you for answering them." . .<End of Audio Log> ================= Conclusion: In conclusion, SCP-049 thinks that "the pestilence" is a long term disease that will slowly take over your body, which we identify as a natural thing that happens as we age. My personal opinion is that 049 is convinced that he isn't actually doing harm, and I think he genuinely wants to do good, however, he only does bad because he has misinformed himself into doing so. Was your hypothesis correct?: Not in the slightest. 049 didn't describe "the pestilence" to be remotely similar to the bubonic plague, or any other viral disease.

Name: Strange Eyelander Rank: Researcher SCP:1025 Others Present: Security LCPL Oliver, John MuD (Class-D) ================================================ Idea: What if there was a list of all of the diseases in SCP-1025? Background Knowledge: SCP-1025 does have lethal diseases. Hypothesis: D-Class will only be able to read the book one or two times before dying. ================================================= Observations: The D-Class that I brought read the book once, and he died of Cardiac Arrest. Conclusion: My hypothesis was correct, D-Class can only read the book a few times, there may be many more lethal diseases in this book than I initially thought.

Name: Researcher Strange Eyelander Rank: Researcher SCP: 1025, Safe Class Others Present: Hashey (Class-D), Security LCPL Oliver, MTF Nu7 PVT Reaper 126E ================================================================= Idea: What if you cataloged all of the diseases in 1025, and compiled them into a large list? Background Knowledge: I know that the book gives you any diseases that you read. Hypothesis: Because the diseases are "common", they likely won't be immediately lethal, so a small number of D-Class could have many of the diseases at once. ================================================================ Observations: The D-Class was only able to read the book twice, once, he got Regenerative Cancer, the second time he read it, he spontaneously combusted before he could state which disease he caught. Notes: This test has disproved my hypothesis, the subject caught an immediately lethal disease, contrary to my belief that it would only give you things like Questions: What caused the D-Class to combust? Was it a side effect of the cancer, was it caused by the combined effects of the cancer and the unknown disease, or was it the unknown disease on it's own? Many hypothesis as to how he died can be made.

Name: AR Strange Eyelander Rank: Associate Researcher Others present: Jerry Berry, Class D; Security OFC Zombie, General Security Why?: I wanted to see if SCP-012 could be lit on fire. Hypothesis: SCP-012 will be flammable, however, it is hard to light them on fire because you will likely die trying to do so. --------------------------------------- Results: Jerry Berry was released, and given gasoline and matches. He trudged into the chamber, and seemed to slowly walk towards the anomaly. After this point, he was out of view, so we could not completely tell what was going on. Shortly after, we heard a thumping noise, and no more was heard from the D-Class. I took the risk of going in front of the cover to see if he was being incompliant, or if he was dead. Strangely, I saw no corpse that was there, however, it was obvious that he had died. I exited the room, and closed the door to SCP-012, ending the test. The conclusions that I drew from this were similar to my hypothesis. It is difficult to light SCP-012 on fire, because you will die doing so. I also learned that any victim of SCP-012 seemingly disappears. This test also brings other questions to mind. For example, it made me wonder, what would happen if you used a different method of setting it on fire? Or, are there any signs left whenever someone dies to 012? ------------------------------------ END OF LOG

Name: Strange Eyelander Current Rank: Junior Researcher Who else was present?: 1 Class-D, AR Normie, Multiple GenSEC and MTF. SCP Number and Classification: 173, Euclid What was the purpose of this experiment?: To find out if SCP-173 could engage in human activities, such as Tic-Tac-Toe. -------------------------------- Notes: SCP-173 played a full game of Tic-Tac-Toe, and lost to a D-Class. 173 killed the D-Class, presumably out of rage from losing. ------------------------------ Report: I entered the secured zone of D-Block, and asked for an escort. One of the higher-up guards did so, and brought a Class-D out to bring to 173's room. We brought them over to the room, and I went up the stairs in order to begin the test. The D-Class entered the chamber and was uncuffed by the guard. The guard exited the room and the test started. During, we brought in a 3 by 3 wood grid, which was around the height of the D-Class. We closed and opened the shutters to allow 173 to make their moves, and we noticed that SCP-173 was compliant. We allowed them to continue to play Tic-Tac-Toe, until the D-Class was 1 move away from winning. We allowed the D-Class to win the game, and we closed the shutters. However, when we opened the shutters, 173 had snapped the neck of the D-Class. Thus was the end of the experiment. -------------------------------- Takeaway: The anomaly is able to partake in human activities, or at least in this particular one. -------------------------------- Ideas(Given by this test): Could the anomaly try doing other activities similar to this?
