  1. Hi all, I wanted to say I mean no disrespect to anyone on this server. I know SMT certainly works very hard, and this isn't a personal attack in any way. This being said, I have noticed Gaminglight receives an unnaturally high amount of lag, even for such a big server. I've been a part of this community for ~6 years (or whenever the server originally came up) on and off, This makes me think that the issues gaminglight has are not related necessarily to the features we add. Recently, the drugs mod was replaced with a downgraded version. Most suggestions are denied because of "lag," and I believe that the server quality is, as a result, compromised. I'm no expert, but I suspect the issue is likely with the server hosts, or an unnecessarily high amount of files. Anyways, I don't know what the issue is, but I guess I wanted to quit Gaminglight on a good note. I think you guys should take a look at new server hosts because for such a large server, it seems strange that you wouldn't be able to invest in some lag-clearing methods that don't involve purging the quality of the server. Best of luck to SMT in the future.
  2. What you want to see? - Add back the old drugs, or pick a different drug pack. I feel like these new ones were just an experiment, but seriously, they're horrible. For reference, I bought and tried every one of the five drugs that there is. Why should we add it? - The new drugs have a HUGE number of issues, especially when compared to the old ones. For one, they're just not fun to use. With one beer or one dose of acid, your entire screen becomes obstructed with random colors. I get that drugs should impair your vision, but the fact that they literally blind you makes it just not fun, especially if its after only one use. With the old drugs you could at least remotely make out what was in front of you, which made them fun to use. Secondly, these drugs are WAY overpriced. A single crazy watermelon is 50k and, while it is admittedly a pretty cool drug (the only one in this mod), it provides no benefits and nobody's going to buy it. It's not fun enough to spend 500k on a shipment, and even if it were, it'd be the only fun drug in this pack. Third, they don't provide any PvP benefits. Weed used to boost your health past 100, heroin would make you temporarily invincible at the cost of your life, cocaine would speed you up insanely, and aspirin would heal you. There was actually a point, outside of fun, to buying drugs, which made them worth it. Finally, there's just less of them, and NO WEED? I'd rather have a few of them be missing textures than this. What are the advantages of having this? - Not enough people buy drugs as is. In replacing the old drugs with shittier drugs, nobody's going to buy them, which is just eventually going to lead to them being removed. These consumable drugs were one of the best things to happen to PoliceRP, and SO many funny moments have happened with them. Overall, with how boring, overpriced, and useless these new drugs are, people simply aren't going to buy or use them. Who is it mainly for? - Literally everyone. Drug dealers b/c they'll actually have customers. Criminals because they can use them for fun or in PvP. Cops because they'll actually get drug calls, since people will ACTUALLY USE THEM. You don't have to re-add the old drugs (though they were fine), but for god's sake, replace these.
  3. Eternity, sawed-off shotguns are class 3’s in real life and normal ones are not. That’s the law. This server messed up in characterizing all shotguns as class 3’s, when an XM, for example, is not. Also, to respond to a few other comments, we could easily make these weapons restricted to people with gun licenses. It’s just a matter of adding them. Also, I think there’s some confusion. I don’t want the weapon to be added to the civilian class, I wanted to add it to the gun dealer and just have there be a larger variety of legal weapons. The amount of RDM shouldn’t be impacted by this at all since there are obviously better weapons than these. A prospective RDMer will always choose an AK47 over a civilian rifle. They are just legal to purchase and use, you do not spawn with them.
  4. To clarify, I never meant that civilians could spawn this. I meant that it could be legally purchased and used. A regular gun dealer would still sell the weapons. And to the RDM point- why would a RDMer use a Kar98k when they can use an AK47 or an AWP? It won’t change anything RDM-wise.
  5. It sounds nice in premise, but with the amount of departments our server already has, I think this is unnecessary. If anything, we should be removing departments, not adding them. - Support
  6. What you want to see? - Either a Kar98k or an M1A Socom 16, both of which are TFA rifles and legally own-able by civilians. Additionally, redefine what a class II weapon is to what it actually is in real life (i.e: XM is legal in real life and considered a class 2, as well as civilian hunting rifles. NOT Sawed-Off shotgun.). Anything greater than a pistol is, essentially, banned. In allowing the legal usage of a shotgun, you increase realism and increase a (legal) civilian's arsenal. Additionally, a Kar98-K or M1A Socom 16 would make a great addition to the civilian's legal arsenal. What are the advantages of having this? - Increased variety in weaponry, but specifically, civilian weaponry which is lacking. Also, the addition of another ranged rifle (other than the AWP) would prove useful as it is a cheaper alternative and would likely be used by criminals (and, potentially, police? Especially the Socom 16). Firstly, I believe the addition of a cheaper, ranged rifle (such as the kar98K) would be something that criminals could benefit from. Secondly, we currently have weapons that are rarely used at all (90% of the handguns), so to deny these suggestions simply on the grounds that "nobody's going to use them" doesn't make sense. Other Side Note: This gun would still be distributed to people via a gun dealer. It wouldn’t be something the civilians could spawn with or spawn in.
  7. + support I think that this should be re-added, but I also think that the server should have a “prison RP event” or something of the sort where the admin asks/tells people to hop on inmate and they live an entire prison life. Otherwise the jobs kinda pointless IMO.
  8. I wanted to add something- as of right now, the president has the power to completely strip civilian income from taxes. From an immersion standpoint, this is a much bigger move than legalizing class 3’s or mushrooms. As said above, the class 3 thing was an idea. Personally, I think thst the president should be able to allow class 3’s with licenses at the maximum (up to SMT’s discretion) , because it would give gun licenses more of a point. However, I absolutely think the president should have more control over drug laws (at least allow mushrooms, maybe LSD? cocaine and heroin can stay illegal). The idea here is to give the president more flexibility in terms of RP. Government disrespect, banning guns and skyrocketing taxes is a way of role playing a dictatorship. Giving out gun licenses for class 3’s would give a president’s gun license ability more weight. Overall, everything specific here is to be taken with a grain of salt. However, I think the general consensus is that the president should have more power as, right now, the “president” is more of a state governor or mayor (which is fine, but at least rename the job “governor?”)
  9. +support Additionally, criminals should be able to break into (BUT NOT STEAL!) police cars with cuffed family members in them as there is no other way to pull them out of the car.
  10. major +support The only way you can succeed in a bank robbery is with a large crew and splitting 750k 5 or more ways results in a very small payout per person and isn’t worth your time at all.
  11. What you want to see? - Allow the president to have reasonable control over gun laws (i.e: illegalize guns totally, allow class 3’s, etc). Class 4s specifically should always remain illegal. Additionally, allow the president to make government disrespect illegal. Additionally, more flexibility could be granted with drug laws than weed. Additionally, a top-right HUD display with current laws could be implemented (i’ve seen this on darkrp servers) so that people don’t have to check law boards every time a new president is in power. Why should we add it? - Allowing the President more freedom in lawmaking would make for interesting RP situations. Imagine a dictator of a president stripping people of their weapons and taxing everybody heavily. It’d make for good RP and increase variety of RP as well as give Secret Service and president assassinations a larger impact on everyone’s experience. What are the advantages of having this? - Increase variety in RP Who is it mainly for? - President, Secret Service, and really everyone else (everyone would be impacted by variety in laws) Links to any content - N/A Wanted to add something- right now, the president doesn’t feel very powerful. He has very limited control or impact on the world and so I feel this would definitely be a nice touch on the server

  13. I’m gonna say something else, too. Keep in mind this rule doesn’t just impact gov. If gov can barely raid a base, imagine how difficult it is for criminals to raid a base like that. This rule has to be re-added. A group of five criminals can’t raid 1 criminals base, and that’s just plain stupid. +Support
  14. What you want to see? - Add bloods, drug dealer, VIP thieves to undercover NPC Why should we add it? - It’s pretty obvious, really. It doesn’t make sense for FBI to be able to go undercover as certain things but not others. What are the advantages of having this? - Improves RP variety (you have to stay vigilant as a criminal) and also improves balance (both major gangs can be infiltrated as opposed to just one) Who is it mainly for? - FBI Links to any content - N/A
